Actually, in a way, you can and (as I've mentioned earlier) it's been done before in many games using this feature. For example, in '"Don't Starve", the actions of your character may lead to unlocking new characters with different stats, that may completely change a new playthrough. So while your original character may be dead, you still have a sense of progression, because you got something out of that death.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
And (as I've also stated before), the easiest system to implement would be a prestige credit payout upon death, with the amount depending on how far you got. The further you get, the more prestige you get, allowing you to buy prestige crates. And since duplicates get turned into battle creds, you will eventually be able to buy battle crates. That way you will be able to start out with powerful weapons, fast and easy access to a variety of vehicles, all of which should make subsequent playthroughs easier.
Actually I have only 2 wishes at this point:
1. Features from Ghost Mode should be intregrated into the main campain. All those request being locked up in a permadeath mode is so typical of this team dev and such a big misunderstanding what the community wants.
2. If my character dies, let me restart after the death screen without having to create a new character, with new customization (and for those using it re-doing the squads customization). Just give me an option at the deathscreen to go back to zero. Don't make my coop players wait for me to go back to menu, recreate my ghost, recreate my weapon and then get back to them.
My thoughts.
its a lazy, poor mechanic, contrived by poor game design, when you have to nerf your ‘elite’ soldiers of core, required skills and force the player through hours of grind to unlock features that should be there from the first instant.
i.e. Skills.
an elite team of spec-ops soldiers, can’t do a 4 person sync shot until you’ve spent hours ‘unlocking / upgrading? It’s lazy and frustrating.
i love all the features of ‘ghost mode’ inc permadeath, and have long asked them to be the default. But I think you should be able to use your default character from the vanilla campaign with all of the skills etc unlocked as the default option; if you want to create a new character, fine - but they should have all the skills maxed and unlocked.
you don’t send an elite soldier into a country to destabilise it, when they can’t use their night vision, thermal , can’t shoot straight or work with their team. It’s a pathetic, lazy game designers conceite.
And when you die, you should take over one of the remaining ghosts, until all 4 are dead. But obviously your team size is now reduced. If the us sends only 4 into an entire country, and 2 die, then it’s up to the 2 left to complete the new much harder mission.
and finally. Your character; either you’re original, or the one created, should be saved outside of the ‘slot’ so you d but have to create and customise them to your fav config, again and again, and again.
Just make a character and save them to a pool, and CHOOSE which to use for the ghost mode. Stop making us create and configure the same ghost over and over again.
and finally, the ammo, the only change ya load outs should be in the main campaign at all times. Not options. They would help train the ‘mindless younger run and gun’ generation to have to think about their actions, plan and take things slower; more risk, more reward.
I platinumed the game in extreme mode; I also literally own nearly every pack. But not all of your purchased items are available at the beginning of ghost mode...you in fact have to unlock some items that you purchased.Originally Posted by non-exist-ent Go to original post
Not to mention the “no secondary weapon” when it comes to being able to carry your long gun and your assault rifle....
Like I said; I don’t mind losing things during an incomplete mission attempt, but everything you obtained during a successful mission completion should be retained.

I mean what is the sense of spending inordinate amounts of time gathering skill points to obtain the various tree advancements, complete a mission, and then lose them all. You literally never gather enough skill points to complete the necessary skill trees.
Whatever you obtain in a successful mission completion should be kept. Anything obtained in the course of a failed mission, you must restore through the mission attempt.
“Pro-player” as in steps taken that favor the player VS favoring the AI.Originally Posted by CarolinaFrog Go to original post
Your interpretation of my statement has nothing to do with what I said or the context of the statement.
Because the “core” game is two years old; and those of us who played the campaign from beta through day 1 platinumed the game a long time ago.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
It’s nice to get a new mission every three months in an update (although I think the Predator, Splinter Cell and Siege characters were lazy, cheesy ways to do it; but the Peruvian connection and Unidad Conspiracy were great) to bring us back to the campaign for a bit...but when you have completed every mission in extreme mode, and made Tier1 almost a year ago...why bother with adding major adjustments to the game for “late comers”? That is why GM was created; to bring a new experience to the original campaign for those of us who have already completed it.
Doc
I personally would have loved to see new game plus mode
So you basically start a new game with high level character with all of the "toys" as when you can utilize high level strategies (emp drones, high caliper snipers etc) from the beginning of the game, it does change your experience quite significantly
