Ghost Mode Permadeath without AI update?
I don't like PVP, but I've played the Campaign, on Extreme difficulty only, 3 times now.
I like some of the stuff you've done with the Ghost Mode - loadouts, etc, I even like perma death.
However how can you release a mode that is impossible to play with the game AI as it stands? How do you feel comfortable releasing something that is so utterly broken as to be frustrating at least, and unforgivably stupid the rest of the times?
I'm referring to Team and Enemy AI.
Example.
I was downed, after playing almost 6 hours of Ghost Mode. I'd completely cleared the starting region and was about 1/3 way through the second. I loved how you had to have a much slower pace and take your time with this mode.
Then, despite being behind rocks 12ft tall, 200m from a camp, and about 50m elevation above the camp, lying prone and sending my drone out to tag and use sync shot on the enemies in the camp the following failure of game AI occured.
1. I had 3 tango's marked for sync shot. As soon as the 3rd Team AI say they had the shot and all 3 markers were solid, I held down A, during that small time, one AI said 'lost my target' despite still having a solid marker. The sync shot happened, but only downed 2 tango's. This meant about 10 seconds later (because you have the stupid 30sec cooldown on syncshots) that a body was seen and the whole camp went on alert.
2. Now, despite being behind huge rocks, lying prone in a bush, 200m laterally and 50m vertically, ALL OF A SUDDEN the whole damn base knew where I was, including those who were sleeping at the time!
If you're going to make a mode like Ghost Mode, and include Permadeath - which again, I have no issue with conceptually - fix your damn AI so that whole camps aren't suddenly psychic and communicate via telepathy, and that rather than them going on alert and checking all directions suddenly know exactly where I am.
This brings me to the third epic screwup of your AI system - which compared to the graphics and the gunsmith obviously received virtually zero development time or consideration.
3. So now the S hit the fan, I and my 3 useless AI team mates tried to bug out before we were swarmed, we fell back and used the environment to hide (pointless again because they knew we'd moved) and then a fire fight started. Which ended up with me getting downed. As I waited for my team mates to revive me, Midas, came along, stood over my body, said "Be right with you" and then NEVER ATTEMPTED TO HEAL ME, until I bled out. He never fired at anyone, the other two were doing that (poorly) - he just stood there.
So I lost my entire playthough, not because I did anything wrong, but because of your AI system.
Which you've had more than 18 months to fix - as these issues I know, I highlighted in the Alpha / Beta periods.
So why are you ok to spend more dev time to do pointless masks and tattoos etc, yet you can't invest any dev time to fix the damn AI?
