THIS IS IT:

I was rep 50 with Valkyrie before the patch and have been put in Diamond tier each season so far (exclusively playing Valkyrie). FHTracker puts my Valkyrie in the top 0.1% of players. This is just to say that, while I’m definitely not the best player ever (very far from it!), I do very much consider myself a “top tier” player.
After the patch, I’m now close to Rep 52 with Valkyrie, and have played her roughly 10 hours – all of that were duels (including roughly 30-40 ranked matches), apart from 4 games in Dominion.
My TL/DR thoughts: I’d sell my left nut to have the developers undo the rework. It’s not good.
Keep in mind, that even last Season BEFORE anyone got their reworks, Valkyrie was the second lowest character, winrate wise, in the game (only one lower was Orochi): https://forhonor.ubisoft.com/game/en...season-5-recap
“It’s too early to say anything yet! She hasn’t even been out 24 hours!” – Breach testers have known her rework for almost a month (it’s practically unchanged). “They were wrong about Orochi!” – no, Orochi still isn’t viable in competitive play. “They said Conq would be weak!” – no, they said he would be boring, and he is.
The only two worthwhile caveats worth mentioning are: 1) I could still learn to chain attacks better. 2) I’ve faced a s***ton of Wardens (over 50% of my matches), and Valkyrie has always been weak against Warden.
MY THOUGHTS:
Dear God, Ubisoft, WHY?! Who decided on these changes?!
But first, the positive:
She got new chains – that’s nice. Sure, they’re not fantastic, but it was badly needed. She also has a way to open up turtles now, neato. Her finishing Side Lights stagger, that’s cool I guess. Shoulder Pin now chains into attacks – not a huge change, since it chained into Shield Crush and Hunters Strike before the rework. And honestly, if they had just stopped there, I would be happy.
But they didn’t.
Problem Number 1: Shield Tackle is now utterly worthless. The first warning sign was when Roman, on the stream, said “It was basically a counter to everything” – which was probably the point where all long-term Valkyrie players went “WTF?”. It was the weakest bash in the game. It could be countered by ALL other bashes. You could be GB’en out of it at any time, even if you let it go instantly. It built massive amounts of revenge in 4v4 fights. It was very VERY easy to dodge. I have never in my life heard anyone complain that Shield Tackle was somehow an OP move. And they nerfed it to oblivion – it is utterly worthless to use now. I tried it a few matches, but soon gave up. Straight up one of the worst moves in the entire game now.
Problem Number 2: All her mixups are gone. By removing Shield Crush after a Heavy, as well as changing Shield Tackle, they have severely limited her mixup potential. No more guessing and mindgames.
Problem Number 3: She’s now MORE predictable than she was before. Because of the above changes, she’s now MORE predictable than she was before the patch – one of the issues she was already dealing with.
Problem Number 4: She doesn’t feel like Valkyrie at all anymore. We wanted the “Kensei Rework” – where they stayed true to the character, but just made Kensei more viable. After the rework, Valkyrie feels like a completely different character. The playstyle is nothing at all like it was before. She feels overly spammy, and overly reliant on just doing Shield Crush -> Light to get anything going.
