[FEEDBACK] Attack vs Fire - Squad Command Change

I give the 'Fire' command and my team runs up the hill and then engages the enemy. Desired Action: Team stays in position, but opens fire on any hostiles in LOS.

This is a huge issue I have with the AI teammates and their behavior - Fire is taken as an Assault command. It removes the ability to set up an ambush and sends your team off in a mindless killing spree...at which point they will clear the camp before you even know what's up.

As a player I need more control over teammate behaviour

A change to this aspect of the Squad AI would be a major step up.

Fire command should only tell them to open fire. That is it. If I want them to assault a position, I'll tell them to open fire and then five a move order.

I don’t know if it’s possible, or likely, but that would be a great addition to solo play.

I doth my cap to thee good sir, thumbs up!

I commend the great and positive attitude you demonstrate on your post Shobhit7777777... another awesome post.

They don't deserve the time and effort you put into is, unfortunately, there is also no secret their priority is to make money and not making the best GR experience one can have.

Maybe if you told the Ghosts to somewhere, then say attack, they would hold position. If Ubisoft could implement it, the feature would be a nice small change that could change the way you play.

    .
Cheers, GMT but I just reposted the video from an earlier, larger feedback thread of mine. I felt I'd like to bring this specific issue up again in the hopes that they address it with SO3/4.

I could see that working too. I personally don't want an overhaul of the current system as I feel it isn't feasible, but minor tweaks here and there would certainly be appreciated. I would primarily like my Ghosts to open fire from their position when told to 'Fire'...and not run around and assault the enemy.

That change alone would make a huge improvement in squad cohesion and tactics available to the player.

I agree whole heartedly, older ghost games had a supressive fire and stealth mode commands where they would not fire unless fires upon. Being able to target a specific ghost with your drone or scope and have them set up in different areas would be great for Ambushes.

This would help a lot. Effectively an RoE separate from a move command, which we have already anyway. The existing Fire command is just a get out jail free card.

@GMT, an experience with AI control as per the original isn't mutually exclusive to making money. The Dev team need to feed their families, pay rent etc and that won't change, but the AI control system might if we add coherent arguments as to why it should. It's not about the Devs deserving feedback, it's about helping them improve the game the way the community want. Why would any of us not want to do that?

    Exactly.

It's one of the reasons why I keep harping on about it, since the functionality is in there, all it needs is a tweak. And you've hit the nail on the head - Get out of jail free card. The moment you give the fire command everything descends into chaos. You can't maneuver around your team because they are running around. Ambushes don't work because your team is sprinting wildly. They become ultra-lethal killers and wipe out the map. You can't retain stealth - open fire, drop a few sicarios, hold fire and regroup to a new position.

    It's ball and chain.

Great idea. I've had so many problems with controlling the team... one of the challenges in Operation: Archangel requires you to finish the op withput dying. Obviously, using the other Ghosts (and lots and lots of rebels) to clear the final building is the best way to go about this. So I order them to go to a specific floor. Stand in front of a door. I breach the door, order them to fire... and they rush off downstairs, because there is a lone sicario that dropped by to see what all the commotion is about. Seriously? If they can't introduce a seperate option for assault and another one for "defend this position", at least they should fix the AI so that it targets the enemies closest to them!

The team also doesn't stick to their ROE

They inexplicably go back into 'stealth' mode and await instructions to engage....while I'm taking fire and breaching a building with a dozen mooks in front of me. The ROEs should be definitive and concrete.
