Practice Range & Mission Stats Feedback
As a day one player of The Division, I have felt that this game lacks in giving players informative damage feedback. The current DPS value given to players is wildly misleading, and it appears that in TD2 this value has been removed (as seen in current gameplay). How will we determine how effective our loudout is? How can we improve our damage without having something to compare? I understand that there will be some mechanic changes and skill changes in TD2, but these suggestions can be adapted to those as well. I suggest one of two things (if not both).
1) Improved practice range - As is stands now, the practice range is very bare bones, only allowing for 3 stationary non enemy targets at varying ranges and limiting many of the actual damage variables such as:
- Enemy Armor Damage
- Damage To Elites
- Damaging Skills (Turret, Sticky Bomb, Seeker Mines)
- Debuffs (ie sentry, midas, pulse, etc…)
- Range (no way to determine how far each target is)
- Movement (no way to practice headshots effectively)
Allow each of these variables to be present within the practice range. Create some targets that are elites, veterans, reds, etc... Make moving targets and stationary targets. Allow damage skills to actually be measured here and allow debuffs to actually be applied to the targets appropriately. Display the distance to the target to measure bullet drop off damage. Take a look at Overwatch's training ground, it is full of scenarios!
Another needed addition would be to add a damage screen split into columns. Each column would display a significant value. For example:
- Overall damage dealt:
Calculates the total damage dealt during the training session
- Time:
Calculates total time firing + reloading + skill animations. Does not include time not firing while not reloading.
- DPS:
Overall damage dealt divided by the time
- Headshots:
Displays total headshots for the training session
- Critical Hits:
Displays percentage of shots that were critical hits
- Accuracy:
Displays overall accuracy of the player during the session
Make the screen interactable by adding a button that resets the values and start a new training session.
By improving the Practice Range you will truly be giving the players the ability to improve their builds and discover which weapons best suit them.
2) Add a stats menu during a mission or display an end stats screen after a mission ends that displays the following
I am sure what will be delivered in TD2 will be a rewarding experience regardless. Thank you for your dedication to this game!!
