So my idea in this state of balance sheet is to only chart heroes that are over rep 1 with the character. or maybe even a total rep of 5 and over. reasoning is that you can't really tell if a hero is balanced by players that don't know the class yet. so this will affect the classes that look cool and are played more by new players that are padding the stats to be less wins than they really are. for example, a new player playing a Valk would be much less than a new player playing a shaman or some other flashy op hero - but at rep 0 on both heroes its still going to be probably about 50/50 on these wins despite of what hero is better because they don't know the moves well enough yet. So if there are more new players playing the shaman its hurting win their percents more than the lesser amount of new players on the Valk. but once both these heroes face each other at rep 10 its going to go lots more in the favor of the shaman or the stronger hero giving an actual realistic look at which character is stronger. in summary... don't add low level players to the state of balance because this does not show accurate stats. if all new players were playing all the classes equally then this would not matter, but the fact is their not. there are far more centurion or warden players than shugoki and new players usually lose more.
They already do not count wins or losses data wise until the hero is rep 1 and the opponent is rep 1 with their hero. So for example say I have a rep 6 centurion and I verse someone who is a level 12 warden. The match isn't counted at all despite me being rep 6 because my opponent wasn't rep 1.
Every hero in a match needs to be at least rep 1 for that match to be accounted for when gathering data.
Thanks for sharing your suggestion, Playing_Mantis. As others have already pointed out, our data for the State of Balance takes into account data from the top 2.5% of players in For Honor. This means that the data is being collected based from the highest levels of play for the game where the capability for each hero is being fully utilized.
The data itself was something players were very keen to see, but shouldn't be considered as sole reasoning for how we approach balancing internally. Balance decisions incorporate various things, such as player feedback, intended vision from the fight team, and, of course, the data.
