    Nuxia speculation

So as the title implies how do you think the team will work her “weapon grapple”? This thread is just to see what the community thinks because in my head this kind of mechanic could have a very fine line on how powerful or weak this could be.

Is it certain combo moves? A move that can be added in at any time ( similer to combo toe stab) a toggle for moves at any time? Do you think her lights would be capable of this “grapple”? Is there a variety of strengths on this grapple? Such as it being able to warrant a simple light to a more damaging move?

And finally I would imagine her deflect is an automatic weapon grab and I hope her “ranged form” isn’t just some thrown stance Similar to HL defensive to offensive power ratio. I would hope it’s a totally different fighting form. Adds a little technicality to her.

well you can be certain that all of the dlc heroes will be far stronger than any respective og hero. in some cases i expect to see the dlc heroes to have exactly some moves that have been nerfed from the original cast. but are now granted to the newcomers. anyone willing to take bets?

I agree, I expect Nuxia to be Peacekeeper and Shinobi combined but work better than both of them.

In other words, a dream come true!

I don’t think this is quite pertaining to the grapple idea of which I was trying to get ideas on but to add to this I don’t see her being like them in any way. She isn’t bleed focused from what we know so mark PK out. And dodge stuff isn’t her thing either and she’ll get additional reach. Not as far as Shinobi

I am merely talking on playstyle not so much functionality.

Speedy like PK but ranged attacks like Shinobi.

Contrary to most, I don't look at PK for her bleeds but more so for the application of her moves, not her damage.

Bleeds are just slow damages over time that give your foe more time to kill you. It's worse than flat damage so I don't use it in my assessment of PK and her moves.

I'm guessing it will be very specific attacks that are pretty telegraphed so players know that it will specifically hurt them to only block it. But it will have some kind of mix up potential so you can bait people who always attempt to parry. It's interesting that they're bringing in another layer of attacks that have to be dealt with besides just blocking. Now if only we could have viable block strings.

As far as her going ranged mode i've no clue. Seeing as how I'm not sure how you can even attach hook swords together to begin with. Id imagine it'll function similarly to shinobi's ranged moves though. Meaning a one and done kind of move. I don't see them giving her a whole stance for ranged mode. Since both guan yu and shaolin have stances already. Not that i'd shy away from having a stance. It would probably be the only way to make ranged moves viable.

About thirty seconds in the person here starts a combination that leads to the sword being hooked. Other demonstrations show how guard may be pulled but obviously nothing on those that show how it will be done in game.

See that's kinda how I figured they'd combine them. Just not sure how that would actually be effective in combat.

In my head I would see the short ends ( the short bladed part near the handle) lock into each other with the hook bits facing opposite directions and going at it Darth Maul style or something. In that case maybe it’s a different fighting form instead of a held stance. Would also be someting new.

According to a Chinese user on the wu lin discord there is little record of them being used in combat in China's more turbulent times. He also notes that when they were used they were kept blunt so as not to snag which makes me doubt bleed will be a thing.

Of course if the weapon is usually more decorative and used because it's form is pleasing in demonstrations, that makes it an ideal weapon for ms not at all a bodyguard dancer as they would be considered harmless until they were not.
