There are no sounds in-game and menu, no gun shots are heard. I tried looking up the web for some answers none of em worked for me. I tried verifying the files, downloaded and installed Direct X from the microsoft's official site, deleted x3daudio1_0.dll to x3daudio1_7.dll and XAudio2_0.dll to XAudio2_7.dll, put the game in compability mode to Windows 8 or Windows 7 and run it in Administrator.
Any fix for this or isn't it really compatible to Windows 10?
FarCry 4 works fine with Windows 10
you may need to determine what your sound chip is , and how you have your sound settings in Windows as well as\ Update any relevant drivers for the hardware you use for sound
so question 1 what do you use for sound ?
onboard sound chip off your main board ?
or other sound device ?
try this
right click on your speaker icon in your win 10 task bar
select open volume Mixer (left click )
select system sounds (left click )
select the Play back tab (left click ) and then your system speakers or preferred sound device
select configure
select stereo.. not 7.1 surround
(as i think Far Cry 4 only supports up to 5.1 surround ..not 7.1 surround as noted here )
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Far_Cry_4#Audio_settings
and here
http://satsun.org/audio/
select save and exit ..try your game again
you may also wanna check your bit rate output for your speakers
select open volume Mixer (left click )
select system sounds (left click )
select the Play back tab (left click ) and then your system speakers or preferred sound device
select the advanced tab
set your bit rate to 16 bit 44100 Hz to start ..you may be able to increase that but try 16 it to start
( i keep mine on 32 bit 48000 hz for my sound chip )
select save and exit
and try your game again
works fine here with my sound on my asus motherboard with a realtek audio chip and win 10 Pro
if that fails please contact Ubi support Directly by opening a support ticket
here https://support.ubi.com
oh and reinstall Direct X you can find the files to reinstall in your far cry 4 support folder that installed on your hard disk .. there is no need to delete or replace current Direct X runtimes or Dll files
if you got the game on steam look in your steam folder
select steam apps
select common
select far cry 4
select the support folder
select Direct X and reinstall it
as i think that fix of deleting dll files deal with people with outdated drivers ..modern sound chips should work fine with the current Direct X files
as i never had any issue here with 6 different PC's that i have owned and used since the game shipped in 2014 .. one was a AMD laptop with
a conexant sound chip . i used realtek sound on 2 other motherboards as well as even my old SB live card worked fine as did an old SB audigy card i had laying around
Thank you for answers, WID992007. For your first question, my sound device is pre-built with ASUS motherboard and installed with Realtek HD Audio Manager. The other steps you gave me were already been done twice and none of em work. I did what you say about lowering the bitrate of the sound however like I said none of it work even selecting each one of em. I did install the direct X from the support folder, nothing.
Since I did find all the fixes and non of em work, I began to think it may cause from my drivers that make the game sound to bug. It is odd that all of my steam games doesn't have a problem with it but FC4 is the only thing that lacks sound. I think it might due to the DriverBooster that I have installed in my desktop, I've updated all of my drivers such as my GPU drivers, sound card, system devices and etc. Now I'm asking the question if DriverBooster is what causes this?
i would say driver booster is installing the wrong drivers .. get your audio drivers direct from the asus website for your mainboard .. that's where i got mine from ..and they work fine in win 10
and far cry 4
what asus motherboard do you have???? ..remember some mainboards like my ASUS ROG Strix Z 270 H have special Realtek chips in them that may require a certain driver to function properly
the reason your other games are fine is they may not use X audio 2 FAR CRY 4 does
i'd never install anything like driver booster on any of my or my customers systems .. your better off getting your drivers right from the hardware makers site
and i do remember when i did the WIN 10 spring update ..the update screwed with a lot of my drivers .. and i did reinstall all my drivers after the WIN 10 2018 Spring update
as my sound chip is made by realtek .. but its a special one for ASUS

- High quality 120 dB SNR stereo playback output and 113 dB SNR recording input
- Supports up to 32-Bit/192kHz playback *3
Audio Feature :
- SupremeFX Shielding™ Technology
- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel
- Sonic Radar III
- Sonic Studio III
and i do not run in 8 channel mode like i already said far cry 4 i think only supports 5.1 ,,my speaker setup is a pair of desk top stereo speakers with a sub woofer plugged in my green audio out jack on my mainboard ..so check also what jack you have your speakers in
another thought ..both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards install HDMI drivers ....... that sound gets pumped to your monitor ..if you leave it enabled and your screen has no speakers you won't hear a thing
you can disable both AMD or Nvidia HDMI audio in your sound settings in win 10
look under playback devices
..i do it every time i reinstall any video driver as i want my sound out of my DESKTOP speakers ..not my screen speakers (since well tiny monitor speakers SUCK )
this is the audio driver my mainboard needs ..and i use on my ROG STRIX Z 270 H

yours may be different check the ASUS web page or post your Motherboard model and i'll look it up for ya
and post a link to the right audio driver for your asus motherboard
you need to try https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97A/HelpDesk/
the right driver for your board
Version 6.01.78482016/08/04414.16 MBytesRealtek Audio
Audio: REALTEK HM_TUF V6.0.1.7848
its right on the asus web site
make sure your bios is up to date too ...latest version
an again i used an old old asus motherboard when the game shipped it was an old core 2 mainboard .. and asus P5 B and i had sound in windows 10
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P5B/
sound was kinda muddy and low .. so i installed a SB live card i scrapped out of an old Dell machine
so its not windows 10 thats screwing ya up ..its not that the game has a issue .. you need to set your sound up right in windows playback devices i do believe first and deal with your speaker out put problem .. what kinda speakers do you run and out of what jack on the mainboard ????
i have no problems with sound here on my new asus or even wayy old asus motherboards ,,heck that ASUS P5 B board i bought back in 2007 .. i run a core 2 quad Q 9650 on it @ 3.6 ghz ..ran FC 4 for years on that system ..no sound issues .. used win 7 ultimate, win 8 , win 8.1 and finally upgraded to win 10 PRO on that system
so its gotta be a driver issue or jack issue
Thank you for staying here WID992007. Your suggestions have worked and the game has able to have sounds in menu and in-game, I reinstalled manually with the link you provided for my audio driver and I updated my gpu as well from the Nvidia Geforce. I didn't have to update my bios since it'll take me time to back up my files so it's time consuming.
Your question about my speakers it's Altec ACS-45 with alongside with a subwoofer, it's old and bought this like... 17 years ago? It's actually a very decent speakers however it was destroyed by power surge during the night when I was playing and it uh screwed up the controls with the power button and unable to volume up so currently using my cheap speakers (I dunno what brand it is but it's crap). Of couse I used the audio jack on the green port since that's usually where speakers supposed to plug in.
So anyways, the problem is either about GPU or Audio Driver that was messed up.
Thanks for helping WID992007, you're the only person who helped me this far from other forums.
Edit: Sorry for delaying my response, I was busy these week days and I hadn't had some time to fix this issue but I did it today. Now I got some free time.
