Well yes, accepting the fact the game has issues and move on is the easiest and most obvious thing to do. That's exactly why I think there should be saves, because you can't really deny that there are issues that could lead to extremely frustrating situations.Originally Posted by Gullis. Don't get me wrong, a ''hardcore'' mode can lead to frustration, but surely that frustration should be limited by the knowledge that you have something to fall back on.
I've already put it forward a few times: I just can't get the horror scenario of dying in the final mission out of my head. The concequences that currently has are terrifying in my opinion.
people have/are voicing their concerns over this, so hopefully they will make permadeath a optional thing in the future. From some of the things they have added, including ghost mode features, it shows they are at least listening to some of feedback they get.Originally Posted by JensDekkersNL Go to original post
for now, I quess trying to go into ghost mode with the mindset of trying to see how far you can get, rather than banking on completing the whole game, is the only way of helping with that fear.
i kinda got mad when i died the first time because i had played an entire afternoon to completed the Security branch and i had almost completed the Infulence branch and died from a base jump accident (broke my knee I guess) then I died again from landing on a road with one car and of course that car had to run me over while I was removing my chute and it counted as a death somehow so if you want to complete Ghost mode and get to lvl 30 and tier 1 you have to be either paranoid or really ****ing lucky and also willing to force yourself to grind very monotone missions that you've already done multiple times and thats why dying in a stupid way makes it so frustrating because you know you're going to have to do everything again and for what an exo-suit(wich looks cool but come on) and a few prestige credits ! At least Tier 1 mode had some cool rewards and it was boring but your progress wasn't threatened by ****ty AI or bad luck or glitches...and maybe a save point at something like the last Boss of a branch would be nice it gives you 5 checkpoints(including El Sueno) wich i think is fair... plus who the **** thought permadeath was a good idea in this game ?! I wanted more story missions(more than the R6 mission that you can't even replay from the start) or stuff to do in the campaign not a mode that might as well be based on luck with rewards that are completely unnecessary !
Don't get me wrong i love this game from the bottom of my heart but man do I wanna explode with anger when 10 hours of playtime are ruined by a bolivian without his driving license... it just feels like you wasted your time after that and it feels horrible
I used to get stuck in rough terrain, get killed by cars, and get run over by trains. Now I'm more careful about where I step, I look before I cross roads, and I definitely don't let my squad go near train tracks unless I thoroughly check them first. A simple thing to do is issue a Hold command before checking the visible length of train tracks, then a GoTo command to place your squad safely on the other side if it's clear, preferably a ways away from it. This is a tactical shooter, you're supposed to be calculated and precise in everything you do, that's part of the immersion.

I am looking forward to test this mod. I think a lot of it is just the mindset. You have to accept that your character is most probably going to die someway and the game is about keeping him alive as long as possible. It's important to not take it too seriously - at least with this state of the game. Its about the path and not the destination
I just wished that the other features were added to the main game as well and the magic-ammo-suck kicked out to increase the importance of the reload-feature.
