Extending the game - Playing it your way
If you have finished the game and wondering what to do with it next this might be of some help.
(Note. This was on a PC... I presume this will work on a console)
Hi.
Having played every game in the franchise I looked forward to each installment with anticipation. Like some I was somewhat disappointed in the end, and would have liked some action BEFORE confronting Joseph Seed, as his compound was berift of any defence once the siblings were gone and the regions secured.
Anyway,
I played the game several times the way Ubisoft planned, then after a while got to thinking. There must be a tactical way of playing this to extend the game and not necessarily ending it too soon.
The Tactical Advantage
Is to have bought, yes, with those silver bars, weapons and vehicles you might want to use each time you start the game.
You'll also need money and those perk points, but more on that later.
After the Intro
Sadly this cannot be skipped, but after you have done it several times it doesn't seem to take as long as it did the first time around
John Seed's Region.
Complete Dutch's island then do as he says and free Fall's End from the Peggie infestation. Then, if you bought a helicopter with your silver bars, or have completed the weekly event challenge that rewarded you with a helicopter, head to the power substation (it has four red lights on masts to indicate where it is, and get your helicopter.
Now fly to Raptor Peak where you should find plenty of bison and moose to hunt. Usually there is a civilian hunter wandering around where you can sell the animal skins to raise spending cash. Do this for a while before going back to Holland Valley.
Once there just concentrate on p***ing in John's cornflakes (Dutch said it) to raise the resistance meter. I usually start off by blowing his "YES" sign to smithereens and take over his ranch. Next just keep rescuing folks captured by the resistance, may be take over a couple of outposts, and blow up his supplies. Eventually you'll be captured a few times culminating in him coming to you for a final showdown. Kill him but DO NOT RESCUE Deputy Hudson or complete the last mission for that region. This will ensure that Peggies will still be available as you clear out the rest of the Hope County.
If you get down on funds head to Raptor Peak to do some more hunting.
Jacob Seed's Region
Head north and do what you need to do to help the Whitetail Militia, and to goad Joseph into doing his mind control thing to you. Make sure you do all of Eli's missions before confronting and killing Jacob. Again, DO NOT DO THE LAST MISSION for the region. Deputys Pratt and Hudson will be okay and Peggies will continue to roam and harrass the two regions.
As before, hunting will replenish your funds
Faith's Region
P*** in her cornflakes by blowing up the statue and destroy the book of Joseph... that will get her attention much sooner than later. Try and do all the Sheriff's missions as soon as you can.
You don't have to complete everything here just yet, but once you have the final confrontation and blow her s**** to kingdoom come and rescue the Sheriff the region becomes quite tame with only the odd Peggie hanging about. You can prolong the end of this region by not capturing outposts or rescuing anyone but by walking Joseph Seed's pilgramage and finding the shrines. Liberating this region will give you the 4th holster.
Joseph's Region
There's about a dozen Peggies lurking about in there and they are good for target practise or skirmeshes with your guns/pets for hire. The area is replenished quite quickly so you can take them on which ever way you like, stealth, front on, from the lake, air, etc.
Money and Perks
You start off with just two holsters and the third is availble via perks. There is a list of challenges within the game that give you perk points. I'd suggest you take a look at this very early in the game and work on getting the perk rewards you need.
Money we have covered so that is really up to you.
Finishing the Game
Is really up to you, By leaving John and Joesph's final missions undone those two regions will keep generating/spawning Peggies to keep you occupied as you find prepper stashes, find collectables, destroy Peggie properties, liberate outposts*, and do all those side missions you haven't completed. Or you can go hunting, fishing, flying, anything your heart desires.
*You cannot reset the outposts until the game is completely over and the Seed's are defeated.
I've just clocked 310 hours with far Cry 5, and now that I play it my way without the pesky Seeds intruding on the gameplay I'm enjoying it. There are a few things I hate about the game and I hope that they will be fixed (See below), but generally not having enemies about when I still had stuff to complete was annoying.
Things I think should be addressed.
* Today I shot a peggie. Both him and the vehicle he was standing next to just disappeared.
* Animals disappear even if you have marked them and are chasing them over the hills.
* Chased vehicles disappear too soon. (Far Cry 4 vehicles stay on the map much longer.)
* Vehicles/roadblocks/skirmeshes materialise/disappear if you look away and then turn back.
* Sometimes in map view you will see markers for roadblocks/supply vehicles on the road near you, but back in the game they are not there.
* Wreckage/dead bodies don't stay lying around long enough.
* Damage is fixed too soon... a warzone should look like a warzone
