update: i found a thread somewhere talking about uplay not launching correctly for some other games and issues and read some fixes for whatever that was about. so i decided to add the uplay app as a non steam game in my steam library. if i launch uplay from steam, then launch rainbow six from uplay the game seems to actually open reliably. i still cant play online but everytime ive tried it so far i can at least play solo terrorist hunt. when i do try online it gives me the same code of 0-00001001 or whatever it was. but i also realized steam did update recently with the new chat stuff. i have absolutely no clue why that would be it and i dont even remember what day that was before or after my issues. but its possible i solved some issues and thats causing more i have no idea. i assume i cant try an older version of steam somehow since its online.
