FEEDBACK: OP Archangel starts so well...

So yeah the mission starts so well.

Apart from the the totally cartoonish quality to the over the top characters, which do detract from the immersion.

Nevertheless, the mission has chosen nice locales. La Cruz and Libertad didn’t get enough love in the main game, because the landscape there is great.

The beginning has nice pacing, tracking down the rogue agent, leading you to that deserted outpost. But after you interrogate the Sicario, the mission then starts to gets tediously generic, as yet again, the Devs decide what makes for excitement is to suddenly throw everything but the kitchen at the player.
You’re hold up in that little shack, as two choppers bare down on you and a handful of enemies turn up.

These kinds of set pieces are sooooo tired and bereft of any kind of creativity. They are over used in a lot of games, so much so that I feel it’s possibly indicative of a mission designer that has run out of ideas.

They’re not compelling nor tactical. Much like the same set piece in the Splinter Cell mission, you just have to ‘camp’ in a corner trying to cover multiple angles.

Interesting gun fights allow the player to utilise the sandbox against overwhelming odds.

    It’s a shame.

Aye, reminded me a bit of the SC Mission, starting slow and then unleashes Hell.
I liked the Idea of fighting in that huge Building tho.

I actually like the mission a lot. It has a lot of flair, intel gathering and the mentioned fight against helos and 3-4 cars is hardly anything comparable to the SC mission, just a short interlude.

Only gripe I have at the moment is the challenge binding me to shotguns forcing me to rely a lot on my team since most of the mission is in the open - and hunting those birds with shotguns is a bit pointless... but once I finish the challenge I don't see anything like the boring Predator or crazy SC mission. This one seems to me well designed.

I was talking about the first half of the mission, the second half with the big building, seems ok so far.

This mission isn't designed with T1 players in mind. I don't get 2 choppers, I get 4 and 6 squads of siccario's. Even with a SASG, chasing rocket choppers on foot is BS. I get what you mean, being nerfed is tedious. More creative use of ordinance would be more fun. It's almost like all the complaints about stage 2 Watchman were collated and they just decided to nerf us completely. I mean, lol! -- How much more reduced to zero can you get than 30 foot range and CQB?

Didn't have any problem with Watchman at all. Thought it was a pretty straightforward infil/exfil and rather fun. You had all ordinance at your disposal and rebel ops too, in fact being tasked to actually use them was cool. -- I understand some people just don't gel with stealth. Either don't like it or just can't wrap their heads around it, in an open game. Then you have bunnies like Lunatic who just need to be called out for being lazy shyte period. Whom just overexaggerate their failings as gamers and blame it on the task and tools. This mission in T1 though, is lock down.

I just think it’s become such a trope within game design.

But yeah, the SC mission was awful, you could not even fall back to another area as you fail the mission....

    Exactly !

Being nerfed! Yes, that’s the way to describe it.

And you just can’t help but feel, this kind of set piece is not reflective of careful and creativecmission design.

Ps. I’ve restarted my characters so I’m only level 11. I get 2 choppers! Without the choppers that part of the mission might of been more fun....

The choppers restrict your movement, as they can kill you in seconds, therefore you tend to stay put in that shack. Which makes for not a particularly interesting gun fight..

—- regarding the SC mission, I loved the stealth part, was a nice change of pace.

It more when you have to defend that building when Fisher sets off the alarm - it’s just nuts. Multiple entry points. It just descends into chaos...

    I didn’t find it fun.

I just used the EMP drone to take down the choppers, didn't affect the shotgun requirement. Twitch and the AI team did a fairly decent job of keeping the foot sicarios off me. But, I also played it on normal difficulty, for whatever it's worth.

Anyway, I thought the mission was pretty well designed compared to the SC mission. Fighting inside the chemical institute brought back fond memories of Vegas and Vegas 2.

you can use the unique shorty shotgun that can shoot choppers up to the range of 135 meters. Only problem is that if the heli crash kills anyone inside the chopper, the mission will fail since vehicle kills are not allowed in the first challenge.

I downed the helos with the EMP drone, one of which resulted in all occupants dying. Didn't fail the challenge.
