Today I want to discuss about this only attack that I consider to be unbalanced in Shaman's kit.
It's very fast and almost unreactable due its tracking being insane, but there's one thing that really pisses me off greatly: the ability to feint it.
Good Shaman players will cue audios and red signs by canceling her dash attacks to mess with your timings, and when you're bled at that point is a matter of luck if it hits you or not. Besides, Shaman with this cancels can bait a dodge, guard break you and have the bite attack guaranteed.
What's the problem with all of this? Bite does too much damage to be so easily landed. It's 50 damage, and it heals your health AND all of your stamina. Oh, and if you fail it, your opponent gets just a guardbreak to punish you, which is less damage than what you would have been unless you are on a wall splat with certain characters.
Shaman's Bite has to get a look at, it should be nerfed. Either by making it the same as Shugoki's Demon Embrace or by eliminating the ability to feint and cancel it.
Really that big problem for you? In a 1v1 Shamans rarely hit me with Predators Mercy. The "unblockable" icon will only show up if they don't cancel it iirc, they cannot feint it anymore and will receive a punish when you dodge it.
It is really strong in 4v4 though, but there are other moves that are ridiculous, too: Stampede, Impale, Demon Embrace, Sickle Rain, Centurion Cutscene. All of them should go away or at least interrupted like the Shaman bite.
I agree its relatively easy to avoid in 1v1 (now after they fixed the tracking, i think they still used to nail you even if you dodged perfectly if they initiated it from touch distance). If you are aware the enemy might attemt to bait out your dodge, it gets really easy if you just get to safe distance. That being said, the 100% stamina refill on sucessfull bite is imo unnecessary.
It is not that "easy" to land imo. If you have bleed applied and you see Shaman going on distance - prepare to dodge. Most Shamans will feint the first attempt and go for the second. Punish with a free GB.Originally Posted by WizardExcelion Go to original post
It is worse than Demon Embrace because it will get interrupted by any Damage the Shaman takes. In Duel it is very reactable, you just need to learn the Animation and Timing and they won't land it on you anymore.
It’s so easy to land on Dom. I know one time Shaman jumped on me while there were 4 people between us. Or even I’m out of the reach from her hands. A good Shaman times it very well. Even her teammate does GB or attacks while you blocking even when I’m attacking she can land it. It doesn’t get interrupted. It only gets interrupted if anybody attacks after pounce lands. Another problem she can do that from anybody’s bleed. If it’s trance whatever she should be only able to do it from her own bleed.
Also please buff her jump attack distance and give triple headbutt after GB throw.
It can most definitely be stopped by an attack, it has no hyper armor. It's all a matter of timing.Originally Posted by Erhanninja Go to original post
As far as a good shaman landing it... yeah, that's the game though. A good player playing anybody is going to be good at their hero. Ex: Cent is in a relatively bad spot but the good ones can still mess your day up. In duels I very rarely go for the bite because the opponent expects and is ready for it.
Predators mercy is very easily countered. Wait for her to be in the air before you dodgeto the side. Bam free GB every single time. If she does it from a range from enough, always expect a feint, wait for that, then see above. Most players problem is people freak out and panic see blood plus shaman and lose it and try to run.
Plus, in most random groups it's not even that bad, unless I'm in a group of my friends, I'm getting hit out of it and you might take a heavy. And then you've typically got revenge or are close to it.
All in all, a good shaman for new payers is about the same as a good (insert obligatory class here) for new players.
This person just said the shamans bite is a worse move than the shug hug.Originally Posted by Charmzzz Go to original post
Worse than Demons Embrace, now that’s something to laugh about. A move that is confirmed off GB, doesn’t deal damage to the user on whiff, can be used again after whiff and has much better tracking, verses a move that is only confirmed on wallsplat, deals damage to the user on whiff, kills the user on critical...
DE and Shaman bite share the trait that they can be punished with a GB on a successful dodge. A smart teammate will wait until Shaman gets the bite damage then attack while the enemy is still getting up for more free damage. DE is a death only if the Shugo has 2 allies with him, or they land that rare grab on critical. To say the bite is worse than DE is just plain wrong.
