Before we get into it, I'm reading the patch notes and have not played the class at time of posting.
He sounds really good. In fact too good.Surgeon is an Assault class that comes equipped with the famous MPD-0 Stim Pistol. This lets him heal and even revive downed team members by shooting them with it. It has 5 charges and a cooldown, but it's a strong ability that lets him turn the tides of battle and keep his team in fighting shape for long periods of time. This, together with Surgeon's passive HP bonus, make him a strong front-line contestant.
With the Medic having mines removed (not up for discussion here, plenty of older posts to necro please), the 1 sec reveal on their drone, the crowds are going to ask is there any reason to play Medic anymore.
I personally don't think another ranged reviver is a good thing, we already have that.
Downed enemies are going to be up & down like a ******'s knickers.
The ability to heal and stop bleed damage, perhaps the fabled passive Quick Hands would've separated this class from its predecssor.
Personally, I think this class will be a monster on PC, given that this class absolutely requires good aim. On console, this is going to be more difficult to use.
Also, here's the thing about this class: the best surgeons must learn the proper time and place to use his pistol, because it does have a cooldown, and he has to be sure he can hit his target.
I think his P90 also keeps him a little more in balance, but I have yet to see what his other primary is, I would assume MP5 for the sake of consistency with RS6.
I feel like that isn't necessary, given you can downed teammates in HUD. I'm curious to see if five charges of the pistol is too much.Originally Posted by fastastoast Go to original post
You have to be 49m radius to revive and he has weak guns. Virtually all support classes have better weapons then P90.
So far toxic class is a supreme game changer in couple hours of playing (and an hour spent in lobby lol ). Strong gun, can mark, flushes people out to where you want them to. Been fun being last man standing with it.
Prolly my favourite thing with the update together with M4A1 Tactical for echelon, game changer.
This is another one of those times they backed themselves into a corner because they have to fit a theme.
If I wanted to play an actual "Doc", I would go back to Siege. What we needed was a "Corpsman". Give the guy a passive quick hands for revives only (or recon too idk) and allow him/her to approach wounded or bleeding allies by holding a contextual action near them that engages a patching up sequence. If the wounded player moves then it cancels the action.
They could say, hold for 5 seconds (one revolution of the action wheel) where it will remove a status effect and give 10 HP. Every cycle after is additional 10HP.
With a character like that, the regular medic still has a purpose, this character only can use the abilities in safe areas because they or the casualty will be vulnerable, and its not some make believe magical pistol. It also promotes actual team work and slows down game pace.
While they are making attempts change the rush meta, this Doc character seems like they will just enable it to continue.
I would/will too, but I run quick hands 99% of the time. My point was, the class could of been good with a passive only ability. Add an ability to give teammates heath without going to a resupply to keep them in the fight.Originally Posted by fastastoast Go to original post
Do something like that, instead of the stem pistol.
This ranged revive pistol, albeit limited, negates the fact we have an actual medic with drone for ranged revives. But like I said, the had to fit the theme, so the regular medic falls by the wayside.
