We're saying slow down the Orochi's fastest light attacks to a reactable speed, not slow all of them down to Season 5 speed. I'm an Orochi main. I know how slow light attacks feel. It's just that light spam shouldn't be anyones form of main offense because it doesn't require skill. I agree that he needs an unblockable and faster side heavies, though.Orochi is fine where he is. Literally he has are fast lights going for him. Take away that and he'll be back to being one of the worst characters in the game. Im sorry if your reactions arent the greatest but i literally have no trouble vs any Orochi player. What he does need is a "buff" and needs an unblockable of some kind so he can open up turtles and speed up his side heavies so that they are actually viable again.
I totally agree with Jmoyano92. On the first hand everybody say "learn how to block", but if the 1st light hits you that is immediately at least another hit, so it's not peoples block skills wich is bad. Slowing these lights is the best way to solve this problem. On the other hand nerfing orochi's deflect is not necessary i think.
I have to disagree, orochi can easily be shut down at higher level play. Storm rush can be stopped with a light before he reaches you and lights are easily parried. Heavys are the only thing going for him. What he needs is an unblockable opener like suggested above. Everyone in the game has one except for pkOriginally Posted by Uncle_Drugobert Go to original post
I wonder why they do those feedback threads either. It was clearly said by A LOT of players (very close after reveal stream), by pros and casuals, that his "update/rework/whatever" is more fun to play (=can-do-stuff) BUT didn't adressed all his problems (and a lot missing old riptide animation). Especially, he still has no opener [what means "if your opponent won't attack you, you have an option that forces him to react to it, or he takes a hit"-option] like Warlords headbutt or any unblockable - example: even if Raiders unblockable zone isn't the safest, it will still hit from time to time + it's even stronger in group fights.
The move, that is meant to be his opener, seems to be - by devs - Storm Rush, but that move is useless, because you can get lighted (happend oscar during reveal stream a few times!!!) or gb'ed out of it. So it's just a self owning move.
*golfclap*
The first step would be, to add hyperarmor to close combat range, so he is able to trade with his opponent. BUT this still doesn't solve his opener problem nor is it a viable guessing game. Because Storm Rush from Orochis right is the fastes, his opponent has to simply block - besides the early mentioned light attack to push him out of his Storm Rush - on his left first, wait a bit, then change guard and block other side or even parry/deflect the incoming top attack (which is the slowest and most telegraphed one of all three). It is not that hard to get off with a little practice. Furthermore, more and more players start to dodge on prediction to the left, because it will dodge the right one as well and if it was top it's just 16 dmg - at this point it's pure evaluation of probability to get out of it as best as you can with basically no downside.
So the second step could be to add unblockable to Orochis Storm Rush right attack. The indicator shows up on start-up (or half-way of Storm Rush) where Orochi still has the option to change the attacks direction to side or top ... you could see it as a soft feint from right only to left/top. If the opponent tries to parry the unblockable, you could have changed your attempt to left or top and hit him (top will most likely trade). If the opponent dodges, he could still dodge both side attacks, but not the top, also it would improve Orochis group fight situation (no guaranteed external block on all of his attacks anymore).
Please note that, if you start (running) on left or top and change (mid-running) to right, it will not be an unblockable, BUT if you go from top/left to right while opponent dodges the left, the right should hit during his dodge (because right is faster than left attack and faster than dodge time).
>> That way Storm Rush should be a more viable move while not be annoying like for example HL's kick->caber-toss mixup.
But hey, we all talked our *** off and that by the ton, but devs still sleeping ... so what is the point of those feedback threads - how much/many data/years do you need this time - any answer to that!?
My take on the Orochi can be found on Reddit. The response has been quite positive, so far. Take a look.
