When publishing, connects to servers, saves map, shows map is uploading, about 30 seconds later I get this erro message.
Tried 100 times
Map is perfectly validated - just the 4 green ticks nothing else
Map weight is around 60-70% of budgets, none of them hit over 70%
Disconnected router, tried again. Tried with controller plugged in, wired connections - still won't publish map.
Can someone accept responsibility for your defective product, accept that I am not an idiot and have tried everything from my end, and fix your problem so I can upload maps without any technical errors which is wasting my very precious time.
Probable cause is the map's actual filesize is too large, which can happen when the mapfile has a poor compression ratio. This isn't part of the Editor validation and can only be checked with the publishing routine.
A common workaround to address this, is to minimize the terrain complexity by flattening some bits of terrain. Repeating patterns (like sections of terrain having the same height) allow for better compression.

Its not a heavy map. Nothing complex with the terrain. Assets used at about 25%.
but I will try to slim it further. Whats the point of a budget limit if you cannot publish a map only using 50% of it???
Ok Steve, so I took your advice.
The map is now at 39.5% which is the highest % value in any of the budget sections. e.g. assets are at about 25% which don't even show - you will see in the video the budget %s.
Still won;t publish - same Snowshoe error message every time. Everything is validated.
In all honesty its plain to see its nothing about the map but is something wrong with Ubisofts servers or bugs or whatever. I hope the bug gets fixed. I will point out my internet connection here in Manila is awful at about 667kbps upload speed on the last check, but obviously enough to upload YouTube videos which never fail or time out.
I'm just uploading a video of the whole experience from start to finish and will post it here so you can see that the map is now under 40%, is a very simple map and I've been having this SNowshoe error message for 5 days now, must have tried uploading the map over 100 times. The attempts to upload the map have taken more time than building it!
Any suggestions welcome, cheers - Sab
Hmmm, so this doesn't seem related to map/terrain complexity. Instead, I think your game is losing connectivity with the Far Cry 5 server for some reason.
I'm not familiar with the regular publication procedure, but I noticed the lack of a progress indicator there. Could it be your connection to the Amazon CloudFront servers is unstable? Can you somehow try and connect to another network, and see if the upload completes there?
I wouldn't think speed is related, unless the servers are so much degraded through DDoS attacks that you only have a small window to keep your connection going.
Thanks for the advice Steve.Originally Posted by Steve64b Go to original post
I see Ubi did a maintenance update just now, also PSN did an update yesterday. I tried publishing again - still no good.
I'm not blaming anyone, but what a let-down that as a map-maker I am unable to upload a map. Oh well, No Man's Sky update is imminent - guess I will just play that until RDR2 comes out.
It is sufficient to upload a 15 minute YouTube video without any errors or timing out.Originally Posted by apapoutsas Go to original post
If that is any gauge on how good some company servers are.... my upload speed is around 500-700kbps.
I tried uploading a map earlier which I had already published and it uploaded fine. This particular map won't upload. The problem is that I have no idea what Snowshoe Error relates to so I am at a complete loss as to what to change in my map in order to make it uploadable.
Everything validates.
Is there a conflict with textures? Is there a terrain problem? Are there some objects which are causing the error?
Until Ubi actually come forward and shed some light onto what the error message relates to I am stuck. And its a lovely map.
TripleTau
maybe you had a random power glitch at your house that triggered the map to bug out, happens to electronics they won't turn on two days later they do.
Can you Save As the map in editor as a new copy retitle the name, change the AI and loadouts then try to republish the new copy?.
If you hit save it saves your current copy, save as makes a new copy then hopefully you can salvage your work.
