I thought the beginning and ending were pretty entertaining, as well as a, we'll say, vertical slice of the middle, but the basic structure of repetitive groups of activities got old really fast. The overall story I enjoyed, as I was keeping my eyes and ears open to the sketchiness of Anne's story vs. the Arachnids, and it was nice to see the Nick was too. It's just that middle, that "go do 6 of the same thing" that really sticks. When I was told I would be climbing towers and Hurk said, "Sorry, they're not as advanced here as we are back in Montana," I groaned, because lampshading a problem does not make it less of a problem. That was true in Blood Dragon, I thought, and it's true here.
Some of the locations were pretty neat. A particular highlight was the Bovine Research Center, but unfortunately it was one of the first I did, so my expectations for the rest was set too high. I'd say since so much of the gameplay was shooting arachnids on your way to one of the mission locations, that maybe the actual locations should've offered more than just shooting more arachnids. That said, I'm really hoping to get them in the Arcade Editor, so I can shoot some more arachnids. Go figure.
