Uh, because it's not a Just Cause title? I have to question at this point who's being serious here, seriously. Have we forgotten it's a GR ttile, not some action-adventure stunt game?Originally Posted by Kane_sg Go to original post
I can think of lots of titles where that kind of thing fits the style of the game. You know, the ones known for players not paying attention to anything mission or story related and just horsing around, like JC, GTA, Sleeping Dogs, etc. It doesn't really fit a tactical recon game though.
If you want to only talk about it into tactical recon game specifically, then I guess you will have to shave off everything else other than ghillie suit, uniform, drone, binocular, sniper rifle, AR, and SMG from this game.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
Otherwise, these features are already included in the game and the suggestion is to develop it for more usability. If you spend 50 hours messing around on bike-parachuting or parachuting out off an airborne bike around, that would be your problem. There are others who can utilize them for tactical advantage in aspect of traversing such as to escape a chase.
Well, we ARE talking parachuting from a vehicle, and military wise I've only ever heard of that being done from planes. Furthermore when covertly, usually at night. If you can come up with proof it's commonly done in the military from ATVs (or even with via chute attached to it) Blue, please, enlighten us.
This is the latest incarnation of a flight capable All Terrain vehicle made of claimed military grade spec I've seen, it's called the Skyrunner, and runs $154,000 USD. I've yet to see any proof any militaries use it though.
While it indeed looks cool and fun, I don't see it as an escape vehicle, more like remote access at best. It's takeoff speed is very slow, as is it's flight speed, and deploying and stuffing the parasail would appear to be even more time consuming. Now maybe if they'd had them back when the first response was done in Afghanistan after 911, they may not have needed horses, but they'd have been WAY more costly for something that's just an access vehicle (a little over 1 million for the whole team). Plus as all terrain as it is, it still needs adequate take off and land terrain, which a horse obviously doesn't. In a game with extremely rugged terrain and lots of SAMs, I just don't see it.
And while what Kane said is true, some would rather just ride a bike off a cliff and parachute to escape, I don't really see being able to escape being mentioned as a common problem in GRW. I certainly had no trouble with it, it's mostly a matter of planning your mission prep well, or even what vehicle you drive in extremely hostile areas. Flying off cliffs in a bike and parachuting down is like something more out of a dime a dozen Hollywood action movie than anything the military would actually do, and the really impractical part is you are FAR more vulnerable to gunfire while racing to get to that cliff.
Bottom line, it depends whether you want a movie based Narco Road theme, or a more true to life military theme. I know my preference is always going to be the latter. I'm surprised no one mentioned Kite Boarding as silly as this thread has gotten. It's become one of the most popular extreme sports. The only thing holding it back is the limitation of places you can do it, the cost of the gear, and the danger of hurting yourself and/or others when learning. In some cases even AFTER you've learned.
When you start dreaming beyond the realm of practicality and what actually IS done even in the most modern of militaries though, it's a clear sign you've played the game to the point of trying to make it into something it isn't, while waiting for another installment of it.
Mike, you will soon find out that this game takes realism and authenticity very serious so none of that nonsense that has been requested would make sense with the theme of this title... [/endsarcasm]Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post![]()
Well, if they weren't slower than a crop duster and fiddly just to deploy and retract the chute, I could see it. But as is I see it as more of a remote access than combat vehicle. However it could be fun as a diversion for any recon in non hostile areas that have extremely rugged terrain.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
