How OP and hard to fight remains to be seen. How stupid they look is pretty obvious. One of the things that attracted me to this game was the gritty unique look of all the characters.
Dynasty warriors was the last place I thought this franchise would go. I'm not belittling the work involved in creating these characters, just the choice in direction.
Maybe the next faction will be fire emblem like anime characters or cat people, they could always go the cat people route...
Hell ubi just throw in fu%$ing elves while you're at it.
Same thing happend with Shaman, as we all remeber. It's ok in my opinion. If little fixes came in couple weeks after release it's ok.I think you are forgetting that Shinobi indeed was actually extremely strong when he was released, it wasn't until his kick nerf he got to a more balanced place. His double dodge into GB/kick was better than any tool in the game and he was almost impossible to engage by most heroes where shinobi dictated the whole duel by double dodge mixup.
And all this things about balance should be separated from mode to mode. In duels, I think, almost all chars are balanced, beatable and reactable. But duels is perfect condition. No objectives, no feats, no other players. Nothing, that could distract you. So you focused on opponent and react on his attacks. In Dominion you can't see real 1v1. And in Dominion "balance" become a way less solid word. A lot of counterpick, a lot of feat advantage etc. Let's say Centurion. Sure, he compleatly beatable in 1v1, not so much mixups, everything reactable. But put you in situation, where you should deal with 3 centurions at the time, you will suffer from his gunk potential. I still think, that devs should already separate 4v4 modes and duel based modes.
Valky maybe a pure char in duels, but hell all this control moves. If you fight with 2 Valky you will never get up your feet, believe me.
That's the main problem with all nerf/buff calls. Devs will rework Valky and I belive she will be ok in duels than, but I could bet a steel pack, that we will see some "nerf" threads. Becuse in Dominion she will be strong and without proper counterpick she will dominate Dominion.
And don't forget some moves almost useless in duels and too strong in 4v4, like impale, Stampede Charge etc.
Same happend with new heroes. People will used to them in duels for sure. But some of them (I think Shaolin, from what I saw on YT) will be too strong in 4v4 modes.
I mean the Tiandi is wearing historically accurate Chinese armour and the monk is wearing robes like that of a Shaolin monk. Don't know what you expected to see from Chinese heroes if not that. The aesthetics maybe not be your cup of tea but I don't know why you would find it stupid. It would be like me saying the Warden looks stupid because he's wearing chain mail like the stuff we see in works of fiction like Lord of the Rings - ignoring the fact that chain mail is a historically accurate piece of medieval armour.Originally Posted by bannex19 Go to original post
I mean I can list a bunch of characters. Peacekeeper((The current PK too. While its not as bad, she's still cancerous and much stronger imo)), berserker, orochi, Kensei, CONQ. Oh god the Conq.Originally Posted by SpaceJim12 Go to original post

If you mean the tiandi, again the most I will say is I found it no harder to deal with than anyone else once I learned its tricks, I beat some, I lost against some, I am not pushing NDA to say anything further.Originally Posted by Sauronbaine Go to original post
I dont know what the Tiandi is as im not watchinf or playing the test. Im assuming its the sword guy and I have nothing to say on him cause I haven't seen or touched him. Im more concerned on the Shaolin from what ive seen. Alot of unblockables and REALLY REALLY fast attacks.Originally Posted by CandleInTheDark Go to original post
But I was only trying to point out your statement of beatable=balanced cause then the game must be completely balanced by that logic.
To put this into the right context, the game is balanced well above my level, I accept that going in which is not to say that I resign myself to losing every time I run into a character that gives me trouble, I practice with and against them to learn their kit and everything else is relative (which is why I can only say I find someone no harder than anyone else). But I put in the effort and have little time for people crying op because one move beats them, put in arena time to practice against it, use the character to learn their kit and their timings, set up that move around a few others to learn how to deal with it.Originally Posted by Sauronbaine Go to original post
Where I do make the argument that someone is beatable is in the likes of the state of balance win matrix because those numbers are taken from the level they are balanced for. So currently in need of toning down maybe? Conqueror, he has way too many 60%+ matchups and one that is above 70% at the level he is balanced for. Someone who is in a relatively decent place right now, Highlander, most of his matchups are in the 45-55% range that the devs look for though if they can find a way to negate the weakness the numbers suggest he has against the shinobi and shaman without making him op even better. Another that is decent at the level he is balanced for because I have seen psots here saying he is trash tier, shinobi, he has three underpar matchups, sure, but he has six above 55% some of them quite heavily so, for the most part though he is in the range the devs want him. Then we have people saying Gladiator is op because of one move and that is where I make the argument that no he has way too many bad matchups, six below 40% one of those below 30% and only two that are above the 55% that is the top range of the win rate the devs look for, if one move gives you trouble practice reading and dealing with that move.
I would also argue that fourteen out of eighteen are relatively well balanced at the level they are balanced for (and I only say relatively, a lot of them do still need changes) because bad matchups or matchups in their favour aside their overall winrate is in the 45-55% range the devs looks for and in those cases it is a matter of improving bad matchups and bringing those at the lower end and higher end of that range closer to the middle.
