Anyone get the issue in the DZ where the second you open fire on a group of NPCs they all immediately warp to positions roughly 30 ft. from where they were when you started? This happens with 100% reliability, anywhere in the DZ. I think it was happening in the UG too, but it's been a while since I was there. It all started about 4 - 6 weeks ago.
I want to simply chalk this up to lag, but if so, why is it so consistently bad and why at the instant you start the firefight? Are roaming NPCs controlled locally while actively-fighting ones from the server? That would be a seriously dumb algorithm if that were the case.
Not just when you open fire. Had one occasion where a shotgunner was running towards me, I started shooting him and then... SWOOOSH!!! He warp/fazed through me and he was gone. Then I turn around and get 1 hit melee'd by him.
Netcode also feels like it shifts into "low gear" when you're out of combat:

NOTE: First shot is a miss, but there are a lot that ain't. Those are all first shots that will initiate combat.

This has been a huge issue since 1.8 dropped. In combat its just the usual lag weve had since forever but when you arent in combat its like its positioning you to time out or something. Shake the heck out of your controller and it doesnt do anything for a second or two and then it catches back up and you are good to go, well, until you go idle again and then its rinse and repeat. They did something and ive been meaning to go back and look at the notes to see if anything is referenced but if i recall the last time i wen to go look for patch notes they were gone and just referenced TD2, think i had to go to reddit and find them in an old post since they cant even keep enough servers up to keep old posts at this point.
No, but it became more consistently... bad with 1.8.Originally Posted by Sock_Monkey Go to original post
