I have noted that when I repeat a particular workout - trainer, or fitness class - multiple time in a row that the game starts increasing my calorie count for what seems to be the exact same exercise. I have no idea why this happens, perhaps it's a glitch, perhaps the game is programed to think if you do something over and over again you are working harder as you tire.

Of course, my calorie count per exercise tends to be rather lower that any of you guys in spite of the fact that I get high percentages on most every exercise I do, which is sort of moot point considering my current bug problem.

Getting back to the bug, boonyow, I have noticed that your calorie count on the leaderboard did not increase at all yesterday. So, it seems you are plagued by the very same bug that I and other in this thread are suffering. Please send an email to Ubi support, and please try to make them understand that it's a game problem and not just a website error. Thanks!

my calorie count per session usually stays about the same per session even when i do it over an over again. There may be a 3-5 calorie difference per session but nothing major, and i usually do 6-10 sessions a day.

NanoParticle - no my leaderboard score and overall calorie score did update on the last sessions i did yesterday afternoon and the ones i did this morning. It seems the bug has gotten me too. I'll send an email to Ubi support and see what they say.

Boonyow -- Would you mind throwing in a round of Cardio Boxing Gold and letting us know how many calories burned you get? And whether you think it is much different from Platinum. Thanks!

i used to do cardio boxing gold everyday until platinum came out. the calories burned would be 80-90 per 12 minute session. I prefer the platinum because it is a little bit longer and seems a bit more intense (more kicking and punching and seems to be a bit faster) than the gold.

I wonder why you get 80-90 when I get 70? My score was 91 when I did this.

i did a little research on what factors other than weight that can affect calories burned. There was a long list but not all could be used by the game to calculate the calories burned in game. The few that i think could be used were age, gender and possibly fitness level (taken from the fitness test you take in game). This wasn't on the list i read but i was thinking maybe height may be a factor too.

i can't remember what my fitness level was after taking the fitness quiz in game but my other stats are:

    male
    5 feet 8 inches tall
    136 lbs
    35 years old

what is your height, weight, gender and age?

This may be causing the differences in calories burned that we are seeing.

I posted some of this earlier but felt like it was still worth summarizing in this thread:

I did the cardio boxing silver part 1 since it was a nice straight forward 4 minute workout. I stood in place and ended up getting a 6% overall and registering 10 calories burned. Then I did it for real, got 100% and registered 29 calories burned. Then I tried being very active and did jumping jacks and got 50 calories burned. So while I assume there's still a weight tie in, there's also a movement level factor that plays a BIG part! (and % score plays no part as far as anyone can tell)

Well, I am a fair amount older than Boonyow. I wonder if I can summon enough curiosity to tinker with my profile and check this out? But I also like Foosifur's theory that "activity" matters. I certainly have gotten that impression, but not really tested it. It certainly would be reassuring to find that Ubi got that right.

I think age, weight, and gender all play a factor. I barely burn over 100 calories in a Cardio Racer session, which is supposedly one of the more intense programs, but then I come on here and hear about people burning off hundreds of calories in an hour or less. Just doesn't happen for me. It's one reason why I would never win that challenge that got suspended unless I was willing to work out all day long.

Well, now that I am 34 again, I look better and I feel better! Just to show it off, I did another round of Cardio Boxing Gold. This time I burned 79 calories!!!

To be a bit more serious:

    Age 51, 167 pounds, 91% score, 70 calories.
    Age 34, 167 pounds, 93% score, 79 calories.

This is not a complete slam dunk to prove that age has a noticeable effect on calorie rating. It is conceivable that my two trials fell at the two extremes of "reasonable variance" around an average of, say, 75. But it is pretty strong evidence that the game does factor in age! I will have to do more trials. I tried to be consistent in my level of "activity" since I still like that theory as an additional modifier on what the game registers for calories burned. But I'm wondering if this is realistic that age alone makes a big difference? I don't really know for sure.
