Now, I know this isn't something most people want, but it's something I love doing in games. Going pistol only.
In the Division 1, I was able to make a pretty functional pistol only Sentry's Call load-out that's lots of fun, and while not the best for PVP, it worked on occasion. Ok rarely, lol.
But I don't need it for PVP. It's a niche build just for fun. I can solo all missions on challenging pretty easily with the build, and it's actually useful in a group for marking everyone with SC stacks quickly.
What I'd be interested in to make a full pistol only build for Div 2.. Primary pistols. Maybe higher caliber handguns with limited ammo. .44 magnums, Desert Eagles, then the standard pistols we already have as a sidearm. Or maybe just let us equip all three weapons as side arms, but give the 2 primary ones limited ammo?
Just an idea I thought could be fun with the right builds.
Not sure about just builds per se but maybe a specialization would work. Then again Im not sure how it would compete against the other specialization builds.
Why do ppl/soldiers carry a sidearm? I think its more a question about having a backup rather than using them in the main. So if the game included say a mechanism that had weapons potentially jamming, overheating or whatever then it would make pistols more relevant. But that would be for all builds rather than a special build.
My personal view to making a pistol build viable would have something to do with limiting ammo carrying capacity and there being a lack of ammo crates in the game world from which players with high-firing automatic weapons would mean theyd have to make their shots count and think about ammo conservation. I could conceivably make slow firing weapons more relevant; ba rifles for instance or burst wpns.
I just dont think its a philosophy that the architects and designers for this game seem not to want to adopt. Which is fine.... more firepower, faster shooting weapons == more fun right?![]()
I leveled a character using only the pistol, and when the Sentry set came out, that was all I used (Sentry w/pistol) until whatever the release was that made it almost impossible to do so. If anything, one can take it as a personal challenge. It isn't necessarily so that it has to be coded in the game.
I am a pistol build user myself and between 1.2 and 1.7 my pistol build was my main FA build. that being said I liked it being unique and often laughed at.... until I 5 tapped you in the head from 50ft away great times! If they are going to actually make a pistol focus set or play style I am sure it will just be ruined or nerfed into the ground. If it was not for the ridiculous skill nerfs in this game, stamina
buff fails and other BS, I would still be loving my pistols. I loved trying out savage gloves, decisive gloves, MC gloves, reckless chest, and Bliss holster. I was happy with tactician, sentry call, lonestar sidearm builds. they are all but trash now thanks to Classy sets and thanks to the nerfs they gave us for no good reason other than they are worthless developers.
Anyway I would like them to make the pistol a viable and useful item like it really was for the games beginning.... now not so much. however, to actually form a legit build around it and encourage a meta would make me sick. I would not want my fun cheapened because of no talent youtube scum and their fan boys.
I personally would like primary-based pistol or more options on sidearm available too (Desert Eagle would look nice)
In Div1, was using 4piece Sentry + Resourceful backpack + Decisive glove, Sniper as secondary, Smg as backup (mostly doing PvE solo (no PvP), and only doing Challenging at most)
But, looking at E3 presentation, there was +20% Pistol Damage, no?
Maybe using that 1 piece, and other 5 piece is for general damage increase like critical hit chance / damage, headshot damage ..... or other utility based.
Will have to see once the game is live / more info is available tho![]()
