This is regarding planes, not helicoptors.
To be clear this is an issue on PC, I can't speak for console. I am also right handed but I assume this is a similar issue left handed players will face.
There has been much complaining of vehicle controls in GRW, and the devs overhauled them. Pretty much everything with the new controls is a lot better at controlling now. The old controls were even left in for those that prefered them.
The problem on PC is planes, other vehicles are absolutely fine. I've seen a few threads, but nothing really explaining why this is an issue. Fans of the controls point out that they are based on real life. I have no issue so far, I'm all for realism. To a degree.
The issue I have is that I am right handed, as are a lot of my fellow PC players. A typical layout for a gaming PC will have the mouse on the right hand side and the keyboard on the left. Most will use the mouse for movement, and the keyboard extra tasks, such as forward or backwards movment, or changing weapons. Nothing that requires a huge amount of concentration.
Putting the controls for the plane on the keyboard means a right handed player must use their left hand. Worse the controls for the plane are all on the left hand side of the keyboard.
That means the controls for the plane are all basically for someone that is left handed. I'd wager that left handed players have their mouse on the left, with keyboard on the right.
Basically the controls for the plane are designed for the wrong hand, whether you are left handed or right handed. As it stands trying to fly a plane feels very unnatural and very wrong. It's a relief to just crash it really.
The controls should use the mouse for movement, simply because that is the way most players have their PC set up, and feels a lot more natural. To put movement on the keyboard basically forces you to use the hand you don't favour.
In the real world this would be asking a pilot "what hand do you favour?" and then giving them controls for the one they don't favour. Not realistic at all.
well here comes reality from a Lefty....
i use keyboard and TRACKBALL.. so i had to learn to exclusively use my right hand for said trackball, so... yeah no... no sympathy here... same controls here you'll find on TheCrew2, we are getting to the point in gaming where there's so many minuscule controls that "one size fits all games" just isnt going to happen any more.. like the stealth skills required for some of this game's missions, you have to develop certain skills to play this game! good luck!
Another lefty using a trackball to the right of the KB.Originally Posted by CarolinaFrog Go to original post

It's not about developing skills to play the game, it's about having controls that are relevant to the platform the game is developed on.Originally Posted by CarolinaFrog Go to original post
Trackball isn't standard on PC, and that is your choice to learn to use. Respect to you for doing so, as it could not have been easy, but keyboard and mouse is pretty standard on PC. And we should get controls relevant to the platform we pay to play the game on.
Tailoring the game to the platform it is being sold on is not an unrealistic expectation.

"my choice to use"?? really?? it ws my choice to tear my shoulder, shatter and dislocate both my elbow and wrist and incur $390k worth of remodeling on my arm? yeah.... again jr.. its called ADAPT and quit whining!Originally Posted by Edgemoor Go to original post
If you had said earlier I would have understood more where you were coming from. I hope it gets better, or at least easier for you. It could not have been easy to adapt or overcome the obstacles you are facing.Originally Posted by CarolinaFrog Go to original post
But I stand by my post. The controls, in my opinion, are not appropriate to the PC platform and could do with being changed.
I am not quite sure why you have such an issue with my post?
Thanks for the supportOriginally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original postI realise the devs probably have other things higher on their list of priority's, but if we say nothing, then they can't know.
