Is it possible to bring updates/dlc earlier than the 3month updates schedule how it is now?
It feels (is) like ages for a upcoming dlc this year.
Everybodys waiting for news for the upcoming dlc and this takes too long.
Regular news updates would also be apriciated.
Because now we are milking the hype cow dry.
I really hope Ubisoft read this and actually do something about this because this is just getting really annoying.
Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.
P.S. sorry for the bad english.
Thanks for letting us know that you'd like more news and quicker updates. In terms of the news end of things, I know we try to tell you guys as much as we can as soon as we're able to. As far as I know, the plan is to stick to the Year 2 Roadmap:
We have announced that the next update is planned for July, and the Year 2 Q&A alludes to some possible content.
With only 4 updates for this year, how else do you suggest they spread it out? .....and what do they do when S2:4 is released with several months still left in the year? I'm not saying that something doesn't need to be done or could have been done better to rejuvenate the game but I just don't see it playing out any other way.
I do agree with your comments about the sharing of information however. I think this is one area Ubi sorely lacks across the board. Even some of the most general of details and information is kept from fans. In some ways this can help evoke feelings of anticipation and hope depending on the details being held back. ......but then it can also become very frustrating when most information is treated as if it were a matter of National security and then when the time comes, some hopes are dashed.
@kean. It would be great if there could be more info and sharing of longer term plans for the game. Even things that they tried to do but couldn't, would be good for discussion around here among some of the posters. Explanations like we didn't put rudder controls on planes in flight, because ... etc etc. Articles about upcoming developments even though they may not come to fruition would interest me and most in the forum.
The trouble is there is too much pressure from the gaming media for exclusives on news and from the marketing and publicity interests in Ubisoft that have their job to do in managing interest and aspirations of the general gamer population. We forum goers aren't that general population who have a wait span measured in hours/days, we are the enthusiasts and although we'd all like more, I honestly can't see it changing. Let's face it, their approach is working for them; the share price is 5 times higher than it was just before Wildlands was announced. They are unlikely to change their fan engagement model any time soon I'm afraid.
Just give us regular info drops on what you guys are working on. The game has been out for a long time now, there is no benefit to keeping information so secret. This is my favorite game but lately I have no inspiration or will play it when your competitors are regular engaging with their community regarding post game improvement and development and implementing it. Your team working on the Division and even R6 Seige is amazing at this, so why hasn't the philosophy translated to the Wildlands team?Originally Posted by UbiInsulin Go to original post
I used to really hate it when people compared Wildlands to GTA at launch, as they were two completely different genres. However, I have fallen victim to Rockstar's amazing marketing with weekly communication newswires regarding content development, weekly bonuses, and upcoming events to GTA online. Additionally, most of the content we have been requesting for Wildlands has been developed and implemented for free into GTA online (eg: helicopter repelling, smoke grenades, tactical vehicles, tactical equipment, tactical clothing, weapon modification)
In my opinion Wildlands is a great game that had so much potential, but sadly lost touch with the spirit of its predecessors in terms of basic tactical mechanics that have been around for the last 10+ years. I really want Special Operations 2 to be that amazing update that has many of the quality of life features that your community has been requesting and have been apart of the franchise for years.
It's not to late to engage meaningfully with your community and improve your NPS (Net Promoter Score) #yesiworkinmarketing just keep us informed of what you guys are working on in upcoming updates rather than just disclosing a cool vague title and month with no concrete release date or context . I guarantee that if you engage with your community and keep us informed, you will grow positive participation and the playerbase
I'm not arguing their success. I absolutely hated Far Cry 5 for many reasons but I'm not trying to convince myself that their approach doesn't pay off for them. .....nor am I trying to convince others that they are delusional because they are perfectly happy with what they delivered. I'm not GMT.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
I think I also made it clear that my issue isn't about that fans should be privy to all news especially that which may spoil exclusives or Ubi's marketing plans. As I said before, it's the reluctance of Ubi to share even some of the more general details and information with their community that I take issue with. ....but that's my opinion and I accept that others have theirs on the subject.
I just look at another Ubi title, ACO, and see how they openly shared info. Even though it had a relatively short lifespan, mainly because Odyssey coming out this year, during the several months that it was being actively supported, the devs would release a memo, within the first days of every month, detailing everything that was coming that month, including new outfits and weapons, new challenges, and any changes being made to the game. I just wish the GRW team would adopt something more akin to that level of transparency
Hamish and Team Division set the high watermark.... everyone really should try to adapt that model!! we had podcasts 2yrs before release, everytime we heard that audio tones we were salivating with desire to hear the updates and they came full onOriginally Posted by Megalodon26 Go to original post
I gave up on the AC series after 1 or 2 titles after AC:BF. I think it was their decision to change "tack" back to the same old formula that turned me off. I heard that AC:O was a decent game though.Originally Posted by Megalodon26 Go to original post
With FC5 the community staff was basically absent leading up to release of the game and many couldn't get answers to even the most basic questions about the UI, menu options ,etc. Things that weren't covered in interviews and in-game demos. The community had to piece it together themselves and through outsiders who had hands-on with the game during development.
.....unfortunately, staff was also absent after release as well which didn't help. At least in the GRW community the staff does a bang up job moderating the forums, interacting with the community and relaying the information they are allowed to.
