So I decided to return to the multiplayer of this Far Cry game after 3 months of it being released, and it is fair to say that it looks like absolutely nothing significant has been done to improve it. After countless threads you still haven't added a lobby system that people want, the gameplay mechanics are still designed with the target audience of 10 year olds, and the lack of game modes and options to support your impressive map editor is diabolical.
I have also had a quick look at the recent posts describing how difficult it is to find a game and how 'We need to preserve the existing players left'. The fact that Ubisoft have evidently decided to ignore nearly all of the old Far Cry players feedback who could write an essay as to how the old Far Cry (2 and IP) multiplayer was miles ahead of this, summarises how a game can rapidly decline if the developers choose to not listen to their community.
Needless to say this will be the last Far Cry game me and my buddies will be buying as we feel truly let down by Ubisoft. Hopefully for the rest of your overly loyal fans you will actually listen to your community on the next game and turn the Far Cry multiplayer around
It's a huge consequence of trying to treat a game like a live service I find.
They were going to update the game continually with DLCs, live events, etc but the problem is is that the initial game doesn't feel all that finished.
At this point it just completely blows the mind as to why they released the arcade in such a state. It only has two multiplayer game-modes which just seems bizarre for a game with such an extensive and awesome map editor.
Far Cry Instincts - 12 vehicles 16 players 4 player split screen, 2005 original Xbox had 4 game modes TDM / DM / Steal The Sample / PredatorOriginally Posted by Teryuo Go to original post
Far Cry Instincts Predator 12 Vehicles 16 players, 2-4 teams & ziplines available - 2006 on XB360 as an exclusive, had 5 (superb) game modes TDM / DM / Steal The Sample / Predator / Seek & Secure
Far Cry 2 - 16 players (6 vehicles no ziplines) was seen as week releasing with 4 game modes, there was also a petition from the PC community for an assault mode but it fell on deaf ears. FC2 had TDM / DM / Uprising / Capture The Diamond.
Uprising only allowed the captain to capture the points and we could not choose who the captain was in the lobby, this caused confusion also CTD did not allow us to throw the diamond and if a player was killed the diamond respawned which was bad it should have dropped where it was to be available to pick up for so long before respawning.
Far Cry 3 (No Vehicles) 14 players on console 18 on PC - 4 game modes TDM / Domination, Firestorm, Transmission
Firestorm was a con as only the official maps had fire in them, the spawns in FC3 were a total mess as they were all shared after the initial start spawns - the PvP was very boring and with Domination & Transmission the matches played to the timer so at times it was painful, had they allowed the games to be won on a set number of captures then that would have helped.
Far Cry 4 - 10 Players - 4 Game Modes, had some vehicles / elephants from what I understand the vehicles respawned and you could select from multiple start points on the large but mostly dull & boring maps.
Matches were played in Attack & Defend so you played two rounds, one team could use guns and vehicles the other had special powers and bows plus elephants - it was a very off experience and could have been a lot better - we could not create user made PvP maps but there was the new Solo / Coop maps (with coop been patched in after launch)
Outpost / Propaganda / Demon Mask and later Overun which was a purchase and a total flop.
Solo modes were Assault / Extraction / Outpost / Hunt so we could say it ended up with 4 PvP modes and 4 Solo / Coop modes.
(Demon Mask I thought was ok but the large maps were far too big for the number of players)
Far Cry 5 - 12 Players, 8 Vehicles, Ziplines, Planes & Helicopters.
PvP modes TDM / DM - Solo & Coop modes Journey / Bounty Hunt / Assault / Outpost
Far Cry 5 is the weakest Far Cry to date with it's multiplayer modes it desperately needs Domination and CTF but bigger maps will suffer due to vehicles not respawning.
The editor is awesome and the way we can do loadouts and use modifiers is brilliant, the game needs some tweaks and fixes where MP is concerned.
Reference the way we play maps it has not worked unfortunately even in private when selecting maps sometimes they swap out for ones we didn't pick.
So yes the sooner we get a better way to host the better, numbers have massively dropped for both Solo and PvP maps been played.
One fear I have is playing in a team, so I see it that 6 players in a private room can invite 6 others in a private room so they are then both in a 12 player game, I believe they then stay in their respective teams over the many maps they play (can anyone confirm this ?)
However in a Private game with 12 players I see it that the players swap teams so one match you could be killing a player and the next you could be on the same side - do you guys see it like that ?
This is a huge worry because some players like to play in a team and stay in a team, sure they can do it by inviting players into a game but you are then stuck - Far Cry in the past worked well with Instincts and FC2 because you could swap teams so you could ask players to switch if one team was dominating or if you wanted to be on with a friend in the opposite team, I would love to see this become available in FC5 but i don't ever see it happening unfortunately.
What we need is some confirmation on the multiplayer that there will be more game modes coming.
I agree. It just really hurts to see Farcry end up like this. I've said it many times before but FC:Instincts kept me coming back to play more MP again and again yet I just don't see that happening with 5. It just seems laughable to me that these games with huge budgets and huge promises to support the game long after release ends up delivering far less than a game from over a decade ago.Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
I would like to see a roadmap or anything from Ubisoft regarding any planned updates to the MP beyond the DLC, otherwise it might be prudent to drop the series entirely if Farcry 6 is announced.
Even worse is that player feedback just seems to get shovelled into a void, at least for now.
Hey jp3112 learn this UBIJOLLY answer to me then you understand what is ARCADE by UBI CORPORATION. I made lot of threats about arcade and what I earned, 2 infractions points- 3 point is final point- the UBI kiks me out from this forum, like my friend was kiced out, ho writing about ARCADE stupidy
Its starsts-Hi IDF777,
first, as I told you a couple of times already, please edit your posts instead of double posting, it's a forum, not a chat. One more infraction point and you'll be temporary banned I believe...….

There was an interview around the time the Arcade trailer launched, someone asked Clark Davis about multiplayer modes and it was said that there would be more.Originally Posted by Teryuo Go to original post
I can say I really like the Hours Of Darkness DLC (assets for the editor with more expected like weapons, enemies, vehicles) Then there is that Assassins Creed stuff I have not even played around with that yet.
This month we will be getting the Lost On Mars DLC which will have new weapons, a rumored jet pack and space spiders with DLC and assets for the editor so this is brilliant stuff where the editor is concerned getting new items - previously all we got was that Blood Dragon free pack that was console only and very few items that were very costly on the budget.
We have also had several fixes / patches so this is new territory for us with Far Cry we are not used to any team working on things and fixing them so who knows where it will go with more time.
I have to stay optimistic Arcade could be a longer term plan than we think and could be aiming for a much bigger audience (in fact it has to do that really to survive)
I will also credit the team for weapon pick ups and loadouts & animals in multiplayer - we are a community that complain and vent our anger but we don't very often give praise, Arcade has a lot of good things if it keeps receiving updates then it will get more appealing and some will return - the key will be bringing in new players if they can do that then it could become a bigger success.
If it fails it would be very sad because not many games do this kind of thing, we are looking at DOOM SnapMap / Halo / Minecraft those are the main ones that support consoles, Gunscape tried and was an amazing little game but it had too few players.
I think Arcade will also bring new things to the editor as they recently added in that Rush Control Zone (even though it is buggy) it shows they are working on and introducing new features so I am going to remain hopeful and positive even though I moan and cry a lot I do like some of the things we have, with a few tweaks / extras we could end up in a really good place yet.
I agree, despite feeling pretty bummed out about the state of arcade as it is, I'm remaining optimistic about the future of it. It just kind of sucks to have to wait for updates is all.Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
If it's eventually shaped up into something great, then I'll be very pleased about it.
All that being said, there is a huge list of things that I could praise Ubi for doing, including the fantastic map editor and FC5's fun gameplay. For now I'll have to keep an eye on the DLC to see what else they'll be adding and all that.
Just to clarify, I am not bashing the editor. The editor is fantastic. But without the support from the Multiplayer it is almost useless.Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
My question to you is how long will it take before it is (will ever be) in a good place? if you ask me personally, its way past it. Most of my buddies have traded it in. The game has been out for 3 months and it has had very minor patches that affected the shambles of a multiplayer game that we have. People voiced their concerns and what was needed for the multiplayer before the game was even out because we saw how atrocious the Far Cry 3 & 4 multiplayer was, no one expected it to get even worse lmao.
And in response to that dude who had an issue with that Ubi-Jolly, I recall that moderator when the game released saying something along the lines of "the games only been out for 2 weeks", referencing that as an excuse to how there was so many problems with the multiplayer at launch. And yet 3 months later it's still very poor and almost dead due to the employees at Ubisoft failing to acknowledge community feedback. Kudos to that moderator for even staying in touch with people on this forums because this looks as quiet as a graveyard compared to the release of the game.
jb31129999 I struggle to get maps played, always have a list of ones I want to try but working shifts am not always available plus there are the time zone issues, all I can say is that when I have been in with some friends I have enjoyed it.
Sure there are issues and I bet there will be more I would say Arcade could be viewed as work in progress, they fix one thing and another might break so eventually they might get into a position where things have happened before so hoping they can possibly fix them quicker.
Adding in those Generic Shapes where we can texture them is IMO one of the best things we have in Arcade - that was not available in the beta editor some of us got to try so seeing those for the first time made me think they do actually care - I am sure it will be a bumpy road full of pot holes but so long as they keep fixing and adding in new things I will still be playing.
It would be very well received if someone from the team could say they are working on a game mode and maybe drop some info on changes to the lobby even just to acknowledge that something will still be happening at some point.
Also the Season Pass appears to be Year One so will be interesting to see if they have a plan for year two - These DLC items for the editor could go on and on but we need more MP Modes and a better solution for playing maps, Arcade looks like the biggest investment yet so I would like to think they make some good decisions and get it in a better position with the multiplayer for fear of it been dropped if things don't work out.
On a plus point Ubisoft have pushed Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and For Honor all 3 games had issues and players left but they turned them around, Wildlands even received multiplayer and For Honor got dedicated servers I believe so fingers crossed with Far Cry.
That Zombie DLC I am wondering if they can create some kind of Horde mode would love to see Arcade also support 4 player coop.
