Adding functional traps to the map maker
Dear Ubisoft, I am writing this post in the forums with the hope that you may make some additions to the map maker. Contrary to popular belief, neither the North Vietnamese Army nor Viet Cong guerrillas could match the U.S. forces toe-to-toe during the Vietnam War either in skill or of firepower. One authentic feel for that war would be booby traps.
I will list some of the booby trap ideas which are not only authentic but surely they would not take much effort to prefabricate for map makers.
1. Hidden pits that drop the player onto punji sticks, killing them. There is no countermeasure that can help you.
2. Smaller version of a hidden pit you step into that takes half of your health with just one punji stick.
3. Snake Pits. A hole deep enough that you can't climb out of and you die due to the numerous bites.
4. Flag Bombs. The NVA and VC loved to fly flags and they knew U.S. troops loved to capture enemy flags. So when they were forced to leave a base or location, they often rigged the flags with an explosive of some kind, so when U.S. troops started to take down the flag, it would set off the charge.
5. Bamboo Whip. Another sharpened bamboo trap, the whip consisted of spikes over a long bamboo pole. The pole was pulled back into an arc using a catch attached to a tripwire. When the wire is tripped, the catch gives out and sent foot-long spikes into a trooper's chest at a hundred miles an hour.
6. The Mace. Another tripwire trap, the Mace may have been the worst of all Vietnam War booby traps. Once the wire was triggered, a 24-inch metal or wooden ball with spikes welded onto it, weighing 40 pounds or more, would swing down from a tree, sending anyone in its path straight to Valhalla.
7. Of course there are the various grenade traps using tripwires or the Bouncing Betty mines The Soviet's provided to North Vietnam.
I hope to find other players who agree with this and perhaps they too can share their voice in support of these additions to really add another element to user made maps.
Otherwise, I just wanted to say thank you for making a great game and that I've been a loyal FarCry fan since the beginning. I've never missed one yet and I love the newest DLC and I look forward to the other three. One thing that I've really loved is this greatly enhanced map maker and I've been enjoying working on some but have yet to publish as I really want to put some good detail into anything I release.
