    Shinobi vs. Orochi HELP

Okay so I have been playing the game for about 2 months now and I started and stuck with Shinobi as my main. I am a rep 7 with him and I consider myself at least okay at playing his class. I feel comfortable against almost every hero in the game except for OROCHI! Lets get into it.

As shinobi dodging is a huge factor in my playstyle (kicks, quad dashes, etc.) and that strategy is completely thrown out the window with the Orochi's tracking and non-dodgeable attacks. Even the attacks that are "dodgeable" seem to track me way further than they seem they should.

Any time I ever try to take the offensive and get some damage on them, I only ever get a dodge attack right back. I don't understand how this isn't seen as broken if all they have to do is wait for an attack then do their side dodge attack. (other than feinting them into it and then getting the parry, I have no other technique to deal with that move).

Havent researched the numbers on this but when getting eaten alive by the light chains from the Orochi, I put my heart and soul into trying to block the next light in the chain; however, it seems completly impossible. Its as if the stun from the previous hit is enough to gurantee the next. And I realize I dont have the quickest reaction time but this happens to me every single game against an orochi. Even on my better days I still seem to get hit by 3-4+ lights in a row, and cant do a thing about it.

And out of every class Ive ever faced, none get out of more GB than Orochi. Orochi consistently ignores my GB attempts as if they are immune to it. Ill catch them every once in awhile when they dash backwards, but the vast majority seem like they shouldve went through but the just never connect.

Its almost to the point where Im paranoid to play orochi's in 1v1's. as soon as I see them I I panic and feel pretty much guaranteed that I will lose regardless for their skill. This class has my biggest turn of about this game, just the amount of things they have going for them seems just straight up unfair to me. Im sure my soloution could be summed up as "get gud" but please elaborate more. I know I cant be the only shinobi struggling with this, or any hero for that matter. Are these actual mechanics or just my reaction time? What can I do differently to avoid their broken attacks? Am I just crazy or are they that difficult to fight as shinobi? What works against them? Please give me whatever advice you can.

    I am facing the same

I.love playing as valk even though she's a disabler it's kinda struggle against Roch especially with their light spams. So what happens is you turtle and wait for an opening or stamina to run out. Even though valk has a spear Roch can just dash back fast to avoid range. Even on spear sweep I trade damage.

To be true I hate playing against Roch in 1v1 coz all they do is light spam which is bad since it's too fast and hardly cost stamina that much while my valk gets punished even for doing things right. But I think that's a weakness on Valkyrie's part

    Heroes VS Orochi

So against orochi block and DO NOT PARRY his lights else you'll just get hit by 2 lights. When he goes into his stance storm rush, Do an attack or dodge and attack etc. Only parry the heavies if you can. Be sure your counter gaurdbreak game is great as as the game goes on the Roch players will start spamming gaurd breaks. Hope this helps

Block as said above. As shinobi , always keep distance to force an orochi to come forward to you. side light them while they dash forward. To counter their forward dash light, simply watch their move then parry it. that requires some practice but is very rewarding once you master it. After your kick and guaranteed heavy, always feint the second heavy to bait their dodge attact then get the sweet light parry. You must keep your guards changing for blocks and ALWAYS anticipate moves. Try to counter things rather than throwing things actively but blindly.

I feel u. I main shinobi too and he is in a rly bad spot against most heroes. Especially after the patch he feels even weaker than before and some mechanics became buggy and dont work most of the time.

Since the servers are still down, i might as well chip in.

You gota play defensively against Orochi. Orochi is a counter attacker, and he is okay with it. While Orochi can shut down Shinobi backflip through his forward dash attack (and you will be eating another light most off the time, maybe even two more), besides that, Orochi doesnt have THAT much. So you bait out his attacks. Double dash forward and do nothing, see what the orochi does. If he goes for a side attack - DEFLECT it, once you get the hang of it, its easy to do (since orochi cant feint his dodge attacks) and you will net 50 damage (deflect, kick in to ranged heavy).

Also. Light spam him back. You can double dodge, then do a double light spam attack. Shinobi double light attacks are quite strong (24 damage on top of my head).

If he does storm rush, you could just use your kick (dodge back then dodge forward and use the kick). You can also whiff the kick (dodge back then dodge side + kick) to back a reaction. Remember, as a Shinobi you control the game. If you dont want to engage, you can simply keep your distance. Shinobi unlocked running speed (NOT sprinting) is the fastest in the game, no one can catch you. IF the orochi tries his forward dodge attack, just parry/deflect it (deflecting nets more damage and you can safely backflip afterwards).

I play Orochi (rep 28), and Shinobi's are a mix bag. A 'bad' shinobi is easy to kill, since they hardly block (let alone parry) and still use their backflip even if its unsafe. Seeing them dodge towards me i usually just do a top heavy, a lot of the time they actually just dodge in to it and eating the damage (+ follow up lights). Orochi zone also has a decent arc and can get (side) dodges easy. BUT once the shinobi plays defensively and starts parrying/deflecting through baiting, im pretty much done. All i can do is get the lucky GB in or whiff my first light in to my (delayed) chain light and get that 'sweet' 12 damage in.

Remember, Orochi top light finisher (the third light) is 400ms, the rest are 500ms. After getting hit by his second light, block top (and 'spam' the block part, as during hitstun your movements wont be registered - the pain of having an 'active' guard), if you see him going for a side light, just block it on reaction. It should be doable.

So a TLR bait attacks and counter them. Your deflect nets you 50 damage, you only need 3 deflects (or 3 light parries) to kill an Orochi. He needs around 4 ish light combos (or 3 if you get hit by the last one) to kill you.
