[Multiplayer] My humble suggestions to make PvP a more enjoyable experience
The Far Cry Arcade editor is an amazing tool that players can use to make the most detailed and gorgeous maps around but is somewhat hindered by the various issues and questionable things in multiplayer. After surpassing level 100 in Arcade on PC, primarily playing multiplayer with about 2000 kills, I've gathered a few suggestions I can think of that I believe will allow the experience to be more enjoyable. All of my suggestions are in mind with maps that have no modifiers enabled.
I also posted this thread on the Far Cry Arcade Editor board as it contains map editor suggestions, which has more discussions on this topic.
In-game/gameplay suggestions for PvP:
- Remove/reduce bonus headshot damage with shotguns (excluding slugs)
- Slightly reduce overall damage output on LMG-type weapons
- Slightly raise damage resistance from headshots
- Add "Jump Stamina" cooldown (reduces jump height and removes momentum gain from jumping) that lasts 1 second or less after jumping
- Reduce 7 second respawn invincibility by default (between 3-5 seconds?) — addressed in TU8
• Disable invincibility for self-inflicted damage
• Disable respawn invincibility at the beginning of matches
Map Editor suggestions for PvP:
- Allow map editors to set respawn invincibility time via a slider (range: 1-7 seconds)
- Add "Initial Spawns" which are solely for initial player spawns at the beginning of matches
- Add placeable and customizable "Respawn Zones" (allows map editors to designate & weight particular areas with Shared Respawn Points inside these zones, better explanation here)
- Add "Invisible Blocker" pieces (to prevent players from exploiting map boundaries)
I will continue to update add worthwhile suggestions to this thread as time goes on. I encourage everyone with any additional suggestions, questions, or disagreements to respond in this thread, but please keep it constructive and professional as possible without criticizing any particular players or developers. Thanks, everyone.
