    Question about weapon DPS

Why would a weapon show different base DPS between 2 people of equal stats. My brother got a PP19 that does over 211,000 DPS. when given to me it dropped down to 158,000 DPS. We are the same level and identical gear sets with different mods.

Simply put the DPS meter is a bad way to estimate your actual damage. It takes into consideration things like mods as well so that can jack your numbers. Even small stat differences can make a huge difference with damage output in the Division. I would recommend checking out this video by Marcostyle were he goes over changes to weapons in 1.8. He discusses firearms scaling and how weapon damage is calculated.

You can't trust the DPS number to determine how well a weapon performs in comparison to another with any reasonable certainty.
The best thing to do is experiment and get a feel and understanding for the weapons, stats, and attributes work together.

You'll have to show the builds.

Just saying this doesn't really help identify the problem.

The problem with "DPS" in The Division is:

It's sustained DPS, it accounts for overall output including time spent shooting and reloading.

It seems to ignore and account for seemingly random factors, headshot damage is included within the DPS while critical hits seem not to.

The best way is to do the maths on your own.

Mods or GS with Reload Speed are the "biggest" factor for DPS. Best bet is to check the character info and check what the actual damage is. Which is why its best to look at firearms stat rather than DPS.

Check your character vs his. Does his gear have SMG damage, does yours? Etc...
