Out of desperation, I've decided to ask for plays on my map "Alpine Standoff". I'd post screen shots, but computers are hard.
After tolerating everything wrong with the arcade, (Such as the broken select tool, the 7 second respawn invincibility, the "Normal Movement" option for terrain decals, the missing weapons, issues with loading the snapshots, the annoying randomness of " Pick A Map", some completely random crashes, discovering glitches added with the title updates, replaying the same maps repeatedly and some of the terrible featured maps) I have finally been able to complete my map with way too many terrain decals and effects.
I was aiming to replicate the vegetation of the Whitetail Mountains region, with some of Henbane River. I'd say I did a good job. I based the loadouts on the equipment of the various cultists in the campaign and damn, I spent way too much time making the latest version only for it to be out voted or replaced!
It's sitting at exactly 4 stars, a fraction of a star below the requirement for "Top Rated"! I originally uploaded it a few months ago, but when the terrain decals were added I deleted it so I could improve the visuals, only to read that they and the hole tool were broken, so I occupied my time waiting for the fix with improving everything else. After the changes to the map voting I thought I could get it to randomly appear in the "Top Rated" slot.
Now that I can upload it without a "Redhorn 80000" error, terrain stretching towards the sky or broken holes, I can't get plays! Please play! It's good, I swear! So much time, practically wasted!
Hey I loaded up your map and it looks great! You really have an I for natural environments and were able to mimic the in game style extremely well! Unfortunately I couldn't play test your map so I'm not sure how the layout feels but i did load it up in editor and I noticed your extensive use of decals which was very well done. They really help make the environment feel more realistic instead of feeling flat and fake. It would be nice to see a Single player map, like an Outpost from you. Keep building man!
Thank you so much! I was originally going to make a single player version, but I used so many terrain decals that there's only room for one type of AI in the memory budget. I'm in the process of making some single player maps, but they can't be as littered with terrain decals as this one. I really appreciate the kind words!
