I've been screwing around in the map menu for 5 minutes now, and I did find something they did fix. The camera used to get stuck on buildings when zooming out, now it'll go around the building with ease, and you can orbit the camera yourself.
However, that's the only thing I found that they fixed. Went through my whole list and tried everything else, pretty much to confirm if it's still valid, and it is. Will add a few new things above my old list.
NEW:
- New for my list, mentioned by a lot of other people already. Useless headlights! They don't light up anything!
- I got stuck here, can't reset my car, can't teleport to the road next to me or onto the bridge where I jumped off. http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/zerothewanderer/video/54157756
- LIVE rewards should at least have a direction indicator, or at least a vague direction, like the junk finds in the first Crew.
- Reiterating this: SCREENS DO NOT NEED TO GO BLACK AND IMMEDIATELY WHITE, IT IS THE WORST GAME DESIGN FOR ANY SORT OF SCREEN EVER, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS SO FREQUENTLY
- Also, this is mentioned in my older list, but I have video now. The auto dimming of the visuals when around bright light. It's something that shouldn't really be in here, or used in gaming, at least racing games. http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/zerothewanderer/video/54158055
- Extreme gravity example + totally uneventful landing - http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/zerothewanderer/video/54158251 -- it's something you make everybody do in the boat tutorial race anyway, you could at least make it look spectacular. There's no splash or nothing, even though you're landing with 4x more force (just a guess).
- One other thing I forgot in my initial listing, we should be able to get a 360 degree view of our car from all angles, without horrible light shafts beaming in and making the rest of the picture dimmer. Yeah, I get that the car is parked in front of a wall that's probably for advertisement purposes, but stop it. We play this game for the cars, let us see the cars in great lightning conditions, from all angles, not a studio apartment with horrible lighting.
OLD:
Starting with the good (compared to the first game)
- The menus don't seem to be as confusing, there's less tiers in them, at least for the beta.
- Graphics are obviously a big improvement, as they should be.
- The sounds also seem a bit improved, depending on the vehicle. I haven't gotten the chance to play with too many of them (not spending hours to go on 1 minute test drives).
- The boats and planes operate pretty good. The only real experience I have with boats and planes of recent memory is GTA and Hydro Thunder, so.
- Driving physics (at least handling) is much better than the first game. You can actually drive with precision and not have your car constantly float around/over rotate.
- The vehicle type quick swapping is nice and fluid, for the most part. Though, sometimes it doesn't put the planes high enough and I instantly crash into things.
and now, the bad, and there's a lot of bad. Some of it is me being nitpicky, but most of it is general issues.
- EXTREME GRAVITY! WHY?! You guys can make good handling physics without the extreme gravity. It doesn't throw cars off as bad as it did in the Crew 1, but it definitely hinders monster trucks still. Also, seeing boats fall like 100 stories and make less of a splash than dropping a marble into a fountain, that's sad.
- Pausing the game immediately takes you out of the world, but unpausing it just peels away the pause menu. (nitpick)
- All of the screens that go black, and then immediately white. STOP, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. This includes all of the gray loading screens with a splash of color flickering through them, and then going solid white.
- The map takes forever to move around, and forever to zoom out. We don't need low shots of the surrounding area, give us back quick zooms and movement, and get rid of the white map. Make it one color or one theme, regardless of how close or far it is. Also can't double stick control it. ALSO, AND THIS JUST HAPPENED, THE CAMERA WON'T ZOOM OUT IF A BUILDING IS IN THE WAY.
- Selling all specs of cars separately. It seems like there's a lot of cars in the list, but when each car has every spec for sale, it's a lot smaller than it really is. Plus, you're spending a lot more to have all of the different specs of the same car. That was a dumb change. Every car should be sold like they used to, with upgrade shops/paths to make them each spec, and the upgrades should carry over to the same make and model. If I earn a level 40 part on my street 370Z, it should also work on my drift 370Z.
- Tuning how a car handles/assists. On the first day, I found this setting by accident, now I can't find it again. It was like how sensitive all of the assists are, and had a slider for drift/slide assist.
- No different controller presets or button mapping. C'mon guys, getting used to different controls for the same functions across multiple games is annoying. Let us map the game to be like *insert game control scheme here*.
- Upgrades. The fact that they're called "loot" now and left on the ground (in cars) that would be possible to miss, is rather annoying. It's bad enough we can't buy them, we have to grind for them, and they could be anywhere? (I know in most cases, they're dropped in front of you, but you shouldn't be forced to stop and wait for drops)
- Plane Extreme mode should be a toggle.
- Boats have poor physics when it comes to landing in water, there's like no splash, the ocean has extreme resistance.
- No quick way to go home. There was a lot going on with the old quick menu, but it had a lot of useful things. Now it got rid of everything useful to use on the fly, with the exception of the radio.
- Have to set a vehicle as "FAV" to customize it, but you can leave your home in the same vehicle you came in with, but the moment you go to a different vehicle type and go back, you're not in the vehicle you were in.
- I just boated down to the Keys from my Home, and across every wave, I heard splashes that sounded like my boat was hitting rocks. Extremely annoying hearing that multiple times a second.
- If you go from land to water, your boat spawns ahead of you instead of in the water, but if you go from water to land, you get teleported to land. Why not do the same with the boats?
- The sound that is made when your combo ends is also subtly annoying.
I'd still say having "a" home quick button even if that means selecting one is faster than zooming out fully.
Extreme mode needs to be a toggle. Legit no reason to not use it if you know how to fly.
I agree with the different modes and FAV settings. Sometimes I just want to change one car? Why am I jumping through hoops?

It was weird at first, but it actually had just about everything you needed. It'd be a d*** sight better than going through all of the freaking black to white menus to get somewhere. Horrible map design, they sped up zooming out, but not in, and still wasn't any twin stick control for faster movement.Originally Posted by SpeedFreak1972 Go to original post
Sad to say, unless a lot of this gets fixed, I won't be getting The Crew 2. The user interface and experience is way too bad, especially since you'll be in and out of it A LOT, probably more than the original game.
