Option to turn off Auto Catch-up?

I've enjoyed the betas very much for TC2. The experience is, of course, quite reminiscent of the first installment with some cool add-ons and great new vehicle options.

My absolute biggest, and really my only, issue is the auto catch-up in single player races. I have to imagine this will have an option to turn off and on at launch but as it stands currently, it does not. (Unless I am grossly mistaken and have failed to find said option).
To me it's just such an annoying feature and seems really disingenuous because you can feel like you're playing really well and be hitting all your marks and keeping your turning and braking tight in a race and you think you must be ahead by some distance only to look behind you and have all of the other cars right there, 1-2 seconds back. That feeling sucks.
Plus it's equally disingenuous when you are playing sloppy, hitting obstacles and having a terrible run and somehow you remain only a few extra seconds back of the lead. Basically this muddles the initiative to improve as this feature makes it so that it doesn't matter if you're good or terrible.

I can see the reason this feature would be good for players who are new to the racing genre, but I have to believe there's a lot of us who would prefer the option to have a realistic racing experience without auto catch-up.

Anyway, thanks for the time and for the betas. Enjoying the hell out of it otherwise. Looking forward to launch!

Biggest problem I have with the game by far. Having them speed up right past me, having them slow down for me like I'm a child and having them blast around corners like it's nothing.

AM I THE ONLY ONE AFFECTED BY THE LAWS OF PHYSICS?!?

The problem with this is the variety of skill levels available in the world. If it's too hard, casuals won't be able to win. If it's too easy, Pro's will be pissed, as there's not even a PVP mode to keep us occupied. I think the only way to find balance with this, is to have different difficulty levels. Like Casual, Experienced, Pro, etc. Otherwise, many will complain if they remove the rubberbanding. I personally want a higher difficulty level, yet have heard many complain about the game being too hard.
