I've posted before, and I'll say it again...
I've been here since the launch of Far Cry Instincts back in Fall of 2005. I've seen the rise and the fall of the "ELITE".
I was there when Far Cry was an XBOX only title, there were no PC or PS3 or PS4 Players. This was a simpler time, a time where there were maybe a good 100 players active on these UBI forums. We organized events and map contests, we did what we could to post pics of our maps, and due to lack of technology at the time I think we did pretty damn good!
We built maps using shipping containers and shoving huts and fences together along with whatever dock and bridge pieces we had. Creativity was at it's best! We used the ruins brush set to make walls, we used red flowers to look like campfires. One of my very good friends used that trick along with a stone animal piece from the ruins set to make the very first "Animal on a spit" And it was unique, fun, and gave us all inspiration to do other things. Thank you Max! You know who you are my friend!
We made maps that could play up to 5 different game modes! Again, this was 13 years ago. Our maps were ALL PVP, and that's all we needed. We didn't know how many downloads or plays our maps got, we just kept playing them for years on end, even after Far Cry 2! There was an army of dedicated people that just wanted to have fun. Far Cry 2 was just NOT fun. Clunky gameplay, ugly colors and terrible lighting effects. Just not a good game. GREAT EFFORT, but Terrible game.
And here we are, many Far Cry games into the future, and this is what we have. Yeah, we have a better editor in some ways, maybe it has more stuff and lets you choose from 7 different games. But how many items can you drop into a map without failure? No map can be detailed, and we are allowed less vehicles per map than we were on the 360! And can I bring up again how we only have 2 plain old tired game modes...DM/TDM?
Where are the long awaited modes from the old days like Pred, Capture the Flag, Seek and Secure?
I would swear that no one from the old days gives a **** like I do! I wish someone would back me, or UBI would give me some credit!
Otherwise, maybe someone else make a comment or a post to try and bring this game and it's age old community back to life!
Until then,
Your old friend,
SICK
OP's enthusiasm is great but no longer contemporary or wanted!
Nowadays it's all about pushing the gamers into cheaper low quality maps hence gameplay - as long as people are still paying for those overpriced games all is good for Ubi!
Personally I think current Ubi games are worth no more than AU$20 ... end of story
Map editor. One of the meaning of the word EDIT in english - is to pervert. The less perversions we will have the better for us! Perversion means - unnatural. I want to Edit nothing in the game! No map, no respawn, no weapon damage.....nothing! Everything must be done by developers! All I want is to enjoy the final product! I want to enjoy the finished Work of Art. But not to add or change something myself. Don't let my "dirty hands" touch the game and change anything there!
Yes , FC5 Arcade target is kids and adluts like kids, they like in multiplayer polintless running and shooting………
We have greatest map editor, but ye have limits to memory-we cant make eny detailed nice maps. Multiplayer is made like faast yump in and out- 5 minits Between Wind and water
shooting running, then Sovel Doggers-...…...FC5 ARCADE is like faast fuud- crap and meke you sick![]()
Its a shame many of you feel this way.
We want to take on board your feedback and appreciate that you are sharing this with us.
The editor keeps improving with each iteration of the franchise and I feel this is the best version of the map creator yet. We love our map making community and thank you for supporting us for all this time, but we also want to open up map making to new players to help grow the community so we attempted to make this map editor more user friendly where possible..
Calling it a "pathetic joke" isn't helpful, we'd love to hear what problems you have with it so we can look to improving it where possible. Already we have taken on board feedback and adjusted the editor accordingly and we will try and do more where possible,
Yes Ubi_Swagushi- ARCAGE Map Editor is best map editor ever made in gaiming history. Its easy to yuse and i startet to make maps with editor from 0, ididnt now anything about map making and a take editor and after some days a have learned how to make maps, not good map but maps. Now i leearne unique triks inin editor, how to force enemys and allies to drive cars, ribs, helicopters. How to make helicopter battle in starst of game. Helicopters geting air same time they shoot each oders and winner will be shoted by eney RBG. I made map with UFO ho shoot you with RBG
….. thousand of possiblitys if you have ideas ( maps like on village outpost can make every beginner).
But very big problem is limitation on memory nad smaal budget, to make nice deatiled maps we need min 50-100% to increase the mmemory and budget.
And i want to put in multiplayer maps neutral persons ( like in singleplayer maps). Neutral persons give as opprtunity do TDM maps more intersting ( city netural pesons walking around and then action, when you shoot neutral your temam get punishe)….
I made outpost map BLACK HAWK TOWN- like in movie. you starst with allies , sitting to cars and drive crash point then same time helicpter take out and hav a battle and then madness like in movie BLACK HAWK DOWN
Adn jeah next pig problem is Arcade multiplayer- hey 6V6 is not multiplayer, multiplayer starts min 9V9, lok back to FC3...……. more gamemodes to needed. TDM and DM is booring, ruuning and shooting witout any tacticks!
Ubi-swaguchi, can I please get a reply on this...Originally Posted by Ubi-Swaguchi Go to original post
Yes! The editor has grown dramatically, and I believe many mappers are thankful for it, but why, with all the improvements, do things keep falling short or get removed?
Example (and I’m starting to feel like this is a crusade for me), why did the developers choose to remove the ability to test play maps on PC that are over budget like in the past versions?
Why can’t we sink trees into the terrain, also like past versions?
Why can’t we position physical objects, such as throwing knives imbedded in walls that can be picked up, like you can in the main game?
Why is there no melee knife... especially with a Vietnam themed dlc?
Why can’t we swap weapon attachments on the fly like in Wildlands?
Theses are just a few things I can think of on break at work, things that have been mentioned and not commented here before (Anyone else feel free to add to the feedback?)
Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback, its much appreciated.Originally Posted by Mutant1408 Go to original post
Not everything that could be done could be implemented and somethings didn't make the cut not because we didn't want them in (we want you to be able to do almost ANYTHING), but due to production limitations. Despite these constraints we have added many features which we hope does help the map builders such as generic shapes, more environment options and more lighting options as well as assets from the Ubisoft catalogue such as Assassin's Creed: Origins.
Theres bound to be things missing, but we also added a lot to try and make this the best experience for our players and we also keep improving the tool and Arcade in general with the title updates
In regards to the melee knife - There is no melee knife in the game
As for the weapon attachment swapping feature - That's a Ghost Recon: Wildlands thing, not a Far Cry thing. If you want that experience you need to play Wildlands![]()
