Any actual way to beat Orochi as Lawbringer?

So, I play Lawbringer Main, and I stand my ground against most heroes, except Orochi (and Shaman), I can't block or parry cause he changes stance too quick, can't retreat once he is close, can't attack cause even if he spams an hour later his hits will connect and mine won't. I want to try to counter and not complain too much, but is almost killing my enjoyment of the game.

Oorochi is super op! He is so fast he can recover from a hard parry quicker than a warden can attack with light attack.

I agree that Orochi is now a nightmare of a match up for Lawbringer. I feel like it's now more of an issue with Lawbringer than an issue with Orochi. I don't know of any reliable way to do anything to one as a Lawbringer, especially on console. I can semi-reliably block his light attack chain, but I don't think Orochi is too OP. The only real issue I have with Orochi is how fast his recovery is after you block a light attack; it's so fast that he can just go right back into his light chain again as if nothing even happened. With Lawbringer in particular, you get nothing if you attempt a shove on block, as he will just do his side dodge attack. Lawbringer's Top Light is the only attack fast enough to really put pressure on an Orochi, but it's not enough to deal with one. Everything else Lawbringer has is simply too slow. I when I fight one I just hope I can bait them into throwing out an attack that I can parry.

I really can't cope with Orochi at the moment as Lawbringer, but I think it's more a case of Lawbringer needing some attention, I read that a re-work on Lawbringer is planned? Is this correct?

*EDIT* After some practive I'm getting better vs Orochi, the back dash attack can be dodge if timed right and if they are spamming lights I know focus on blocking to drain their stamina and put the hurt on them. Sure you are going to take damage from their lights as they are so fast but if you can block and dodge into a GB on the side attack then you stand a good chance.

Yes, the Devs have stated that they are reworking all of the original characters. The Warden and Valkyrie reworks are being released this week. That leaves Raider, Shugoki, Lawbringer, and Warlord. They haven't stated when exactly when the remaining reworks will get released, but they seem to be going two at a time every couple months or so.

    Here's an actual answer

Wow these people didn't help you but don't worry I'm here. First off, let's assume both you and the orochi are good since you're comparing yourself with your opponent in terms of character potential. To address your point on ability to retreat, lawbringer can't retreat, recently they made it so almost no character can except for a few select assassins, orochi being one of them. But that's all irrelevant, you don't need to retreat. As far as moves go, the only orochi moves you'd have to worry about is his light and heavy attack chains. Riptide strike, where orochi steps back and hits, has harsh animations so if you're on pc you shouldn't have trouble reactively parrying it even if you aren't expecting it. If this isn't the case you'll want to practice especially since the only real lawbringer advantage is his parry damage. For storm rush, an easy option is to time a top light to hit as he's approaching you. Orochi has no hyper armor so he'll lose every time to a top light. That leaves orochi with just lights and heavies maybe even a zone, but his zone should never be too fast to be able to block, and if you're semi-expecting it, it also has harsh animations so you'll be able to parry it.

With orochi's new chains, every attack he does could either be a light or heavy. Orochi as a character is better than lawbringer, so if you're both good, the fight will be a guessing game for lawbringer, as he is trying to parry a light attack. Lawbringer's style of play against orochi is to wait until they're confident the next attack is a light attack, and then parry it and deal 50 damage.. just be aware that if you go to parry a light attack and it turns out they did a heavy, the heavy will hit, or they could also feint the heavy into top lights, or they could even feint the heavy into a guardbreak, all which will hit guaranteed if you went for the parry and they made no error. Generally if the orochi's overall rep is under 100 and character rep is under 10, they'll have a bad habit of throwing light attacks every time they feint a heavy, so you can try waiting for a feinted heavy and then parry the next attack, but good orochis make sure to make it different every time.

As for what not to do, never shove after you block their heavy, if they follow with a light it'll still hit you. If you're shoving after you block a light, the shove is no more of a 50/50 than it is for you. An orochi (or any other assassin) has enough time to deflect the follow up light attack after a shove, if they don't see any indicator right away, likely meaning you guardbreak after shove, they can either still dodge and do a dodge attack on reaction to seeing a guardbreak, or just not dodge at all. To counter this, follow shoves with only one of two options, a heavy attack or light attack, if they try to deflect your light attack and you threw a heavy it'll hit every time. If they stand and wait to parry a heavy, the light attack will hit. Just remember that if the orochi guesses correctly, you'll take damage. When I play lawbringer, I personally never follow my shoves with anything if I'm versing an assassin. If you're overall rep is under 100 you probably won't have to worry about that though. Also remember that orochi has a blocking disadvantage, so a light attack mid chain will be harder for the orochi to block since he has a 100ms guard switch penalty and lawbringer does not. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just know that if you ever throw a heavy and it gets blocked or for some reason it actually hits, following it up with a light has a decent chance of hitting

As a lawbringer, orochi is definitely not the worst it gets, orochi shares the pain of having no openers, your real tough match ups where you'll feel helpless will be characters like conqueror, gladiator, warlord, highlander, or warden, or to be less specific, the ones who have openers from neutral. Against them you play a guessing game with a lot less of a rewarding correct guess.
