I freed my 3rd buddy (Yokel) but in the middle of talking to him we were attacked from the river. I got caught up in the firefight and saw Yokel's little white diamond running off over a hill, never to be seen again.
So, is that normal? Can I only have 2 "guns for hire" like in the regular game, or did I screw up?
It says I rescued him in the mission tracker, but I don't see a way to add him to my squad.
Ya didn't mess up as when ya get to the extraction or any time before that (although I never use any of the 3) ya can "assign" him to help you anywhere before ya get there. I normally wait until I take out the AA guns at extraction, then call up 2 of them to help with the battle before extraction - (they normally die as I'm busy with the copters it seems) and I generally only leave with the one I don't chose......., to be honest I ain't figured that part out yet - I just know they mess with my stealth so I don't want them near and release them shortly after I've freed them.
But he says he doesn't see any way to add him to his squad.Originally Posted by mr_wilson1954 Go to original post
I do recall someone saying you can only use two 'buddies' at once, so if had the first two assigned when he rescued the third, that would explain him doing a runner.
Once you rescue all 3, you can choose which two you want with you, in the same way as you do in FC5
I liked Yokel and Moses the best, Yokel has an (unsilenced) sniper rifle and Moses has an M60. Much better than Joker's M16
That being said, you kind of have to babysit them so they don't get killed. By the end of my 1st playthrough, I was just pointing somewhere in the opposite direction and sending them AWAY from whatever it was I was trying to do, and then calling them back to me once I was finished.
My second playthrough, I finished everything else except the final mission alone, and then I ran back and released them all before doing the final extraction mission. That was a better way to do it in my opinion. I had more fun with them running to the extraction point, because I could just fight whatever enemies we came across without worrying about stealth at all.
I never had problems with them... same as in the normal game if your crouched they should stay in a stealth mode. I saw one do a stealth takedown on a targeted enemy which was unexpected. They do yell out a lot, but that doesn't affect your stealth, although I guess if your standing and they open up on someone it will draw enemies towards you. I generally went in quietly for about the first half of the map, then 2nd half dropped the stealth approach and went in guns blazing... worked for me and they rarely went down.
