Dafuq is wrong with the "random" map generator?

I kid you not when I'm saying I noticed a strange pattern that usually in weekends, rainy maps have very high chance to draw. I didn't bother to tell anyone about this since I started playing the game in 14th February 2017 because it sounds too vague.

BUT, this weekend, from Friday till now - Monday, I mostly got rainy maps. Mondays are usually sunny in spite of most of us having to go to work. Today, Monday, I played 10+ duel matches one after another (with new players so no map vote) and every single map was rainy. I hate, I mean HATE rainy maps because the game runs bad on them; strange to describe it but it feel like a combination of video and network lag. I have I3 4150 @ 3.5 GHz, GTX 780 and 12GB RAM.

Not to mention that from the last update I constantly get a 3GB RAM overflow error after I ALT+TAB into/out of/into/out of/into/out of between rounds to change the track I listen---- REALLY annoying. I sent every crash report for 2-3 weeks until I gave up because no fix was in sight.

    Anyway, my suggestion is:
    - Completely remove rainy maps unless players vote for them; I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue as I'm not running a crappy PC. (I have 0 issues on rain-less maps)

Keep up the good work guys, best game I've played! After Morrowind of course

    ADDENDUM: I play only DUELS.

I don't have any issues with rainy maps and I'm on a mid-range PC - nothing beastly but certainly not a potatoe. If you're having this problem why not optimise some things on your end first?

    - Lower the graphics settings a bit. In particular you can simply lower the render scaling option down to get much better performance with a very neglible hit to the graphics.

    - Turning off V-sync increases the FPS a bit.

    - This game isn't really optimised for alt-tabbing in and out of it so you might want to not do that. You could use your phone to play music from instead.

    - If you're running the game in borderless mode that will also have a hit to your performance. The optimal way to run this game is in fullscreen mode.

    - I would never sacrifice the cool graphics (and experience implicitly) for the sake of rainy maps.
    - I never use V-sync
    - I never had alt-tab issues until a month or so. How do you know it's not optimised for that? I think it is/WAS, until a recent update. I have the game running in backround at least 8h a day, switching to it when I feel the need for blood. This wasn't an issue before
    - I run in fullscreen mode,
    - No one tells me how to play/listen to my music :P

Anyway the point of the post is not to optimize rainy maps, but to reduce their frequency, which is absurd since 3 days now.

    Cheers!

Far be it from me to commit the cardinal sin of telling another how to listen to their music. It was only a suggesting I swear!

I don't know for sure that For Honor isn't optimised for alt-tabbing, it's just that in my experience with other games I've found that alt-tabbing For Honor momentarily hits its performance. Whereas in a game like Elite Dangerous for example I can run that game in borderless, have at least two other apps running in the background and be alt tabbing between them and the game without even so much as a blink from the game's performance. And that can be when I'm flying around in a busy place with more than 20 other players showing up in my instance and me engaging some in freeform PvP. But then again that game's performance is a rock which I find to be extremely well optimised.

If you haven't been having these issues on rainy maps previously then perhaps it could be on For Honor's end. Might be worth sending a support ticket in so they can investigate why this might be happening. Could be another memory leak that's been introduced with the last update.

Performance-wise, I've found that reducing the render scaling a bit gave me a nice boost in FPS without ruining any of the prettyness of the graphics. The game looks as nice as before but I've got an extra 10-15 more FPS.

I've played before with render scale, it helps on rainy maps but only if it's set to minimum I think - didn't worth it.

I can play on rainy maps without loosing mate - the decreased performance IS easily bearable - it's just that ... well.. as I said, 10 rainy maps in a row, c'mon UBI!

    Cheers!
