E3 Demo - Release a Closed Version to Users of this Forum

It was great to see gameplay of D2 and other people play the game and give their impressions. This still leaves the rest of us that don't have access/time to go to E3 unable to experience this slice of the game.

I don't ask this only to get a scrap to play, I ask this so the people that really care (those that use these forums) can give their feedback that has legs to stand on. Most of us have not had hands on so we are firing blindly so to speak when we discuss what has been revealed so far.

Please make this E3 demo available to those invested in this forum. (and MarcoStyle)

    Bump.
Community, if you agree and/or want this, leave a reply/thumbs-up, how else is Massive to know.

I think that this would be a great idea. I don't think it could even happen but I think it's a great idea. Pretty unlikely for them to release anything seeing as how they are still creating the game.

Hi Label07! Thanks for your interest in playing the E3 build of the game. I know you want to get your hands on TD2 as soon as possible to help in the development of the game, but the E3 build is not something that's planned for general release. It's still a bit early for that. We have announced an upcoming beta!

(Also, for future reference, bumping is against forum rules.)

Thank you for the reply Ubi.

    Plans can change

Upcoming beta is going to be great, I will be starting another "Revisions for the Division" 2.0.

I hope for your sake(s) this BETA will not be far off. If you wait too long as most developers do, it will just be a glorified demo, that is not the purpose of a beta. 2 or 3 months before your games launch is NOT a beta, it should be MUCH earlier than that. If your team truly wants feedback (free mind you) to help shape the game, a closed beta in the near future should be a top priority.

We all want this game to be good AT LAUNCH, not years later

We'll likely see the beta January at the earliest.

Is there a source or article to back that up? (link please) If that is the true time-frame for the "beta" then my fears are realized...it will be a glorified demo...

TD1 was also released in March. There was a closed alpha in December, a closed beta in January, and an open beta in February.

Whether or not TD2 follows a similar schedule is anyone's guess, but...you know what they say: past performance is often the best predictor of future behavior.

That is very good insight Trip, especially true if the beta is quite far off and not too distant to the launch of the game.

So in other words we find ourselves in the same position as the first game, cross our fingers and hope. Participate in the glorified demo alpha (maybe?) and beta, our feedback likely having ZERO impact on the final game. Then when the game releases we can ***** about all the mechanics/etc. that are f*cked up and we can wait a year or two for them to fix the game, f*cking great!

When will devs learn...put a damn PTR up and let the community help shape this game into platinum, FFS!

In an interview with Skillup at E3, Julian Gerighty said the following:

We've completed our alpha, we passed our alpha a month and a half ago, maybe more, in Paris. And then we started working, really, on the E3 demo...the E3 presence as well. Now, we need to go back and start working on, "what are we going to ship with?"

Now obviously the alpha he's talking about there is not a playable alpha...or at least not publicly playable, anyway. I have no idea what the timeline was for the first game, or where in its development cycle it was when it had 9 months left before release, so it's pretty much impossible to say whether we can expect anything different this time around.

My gut feeling is that we're not going to see any kind of publicly playable version until December, maybe November at the earliest...but really, that's not much more than speculation based on a (somewhat) educated guess.
