I have tried time and time again to give this game and its community a chance to redeem itself. All I am met with is the most toxic community I have ever seen in my entire life. Ubisoft said at E3 they "listen" to the community. If they listened they would not have lost a huge number of their playbase. Why do you think everyone left? Balance and performance issues? Sure some probably did for that reason, but everone I know that has played this game has stopped because of how toxic everyone is. If you think you can't fix toxic players your wrong. Ubisoft has given the players all the tools they need to be toxic. what other fighting game do you know where you can spam taunts at you enemy? I don't know one either. If Ubisoft truly listened to anyone they would take out taunts all together and remove the quick chat. It doesn't help when you are fighting someone and they just spam the chat with "thanks!" or "OK!". Take away all the toxic players tools to become toxic and ruin the game and you will get so many players back. Making the game free on PC is only a bandaid on the massive gash of depleting numbers. All new players experiences will be ruined as soon as they realize all the playerbase is is a bunch of toxic A Holes. But Ubisoft doesn't really pay attention to these forums so I am not going to hold my breathe.
... Yah i was wonder why there is a free edition ...
Now i can see at least one reason : mouse control is poorly implemented ... basically fighing against any boss is almost imposible using keyboard + mouse
I have a PC controller somewhere but i'm not use-it and seriously i'm not even try to only for this game ..
After decades of playing PC games using keyb+mouse now i should start learn to move with a controller only because devs can't find a better way ?
Nah seriously go crush and burn with this game - PC control is hilarious bad !
I have no respect at all for people trying to anger their opponent intentionally (I never count those who are just killing the opponent a way the opponent doesn't like). However, sadly, there are far more frustrating things in life than a spamming orochi rapper, you have to learn ignoring them, just like you have to learn to deal with more frustrating things like stucking on a road/on a bus for hours, doesn't getting what you paid for etc. If you can distance yourself more, you will learn that most emote spammers are pretty insecure and react poorly if defeated and emoted back, and they aren't very skilled most of the times, that's why they overact when defeating someone. If somehow they manage to anger you, take a few deep breaths, then try to find a way to win the rest of the rounds. If the game keeps angering you, then you should consider taking a break.
The quickchat is very limited, I translate you the real meaning behind the messages:
Good Fight!=Mostly means your opponent is a decent, level-headed person. Return this message as good sportmanship. Sometimes people try to taunt you with it too, but don't try to decode it as anything more than a polite greeting/commendation.
Wow! Wow! Wow!= Keep doing what you are doing, you are winning the game. React with a Good Fight! if you want to make your opponent even angrier.
Sorry!/Thanks! spam= It means your opponent finds it very satisfying to defeat you. Mostly happens when the opponent takes the third round, it mostly comes with the opponent becoming reckless, so if you keep calm, round 4 will probably be very easy.
I got this!= Your opponent knows that defeat is imminent, mostly comes after their first loss. Don't try to humiliate them, just fight as you normally fight.
Ok!= Your opponent doesn't like what you are doing. Keep doing what you did, Wow! Wow! Wow! will soon follow.
In all honesty, you are wholeheartedly right. This game is doing terribly in most senses. Yes it brings in new players but they don't stick around. I myself, and friends, have played since launch but take massive breaks and try to come back only to find it gets worse. Developers obviously don't listen to most feedback. Like you said, they give the tools for everyone to be a ****** in this. You can repeatedly taunt spam, nonstop team, throw people into hazards repeatedly with no action taken against you, et cetera. It has gotten to the point where I have seen people that have played this game far more than me leave because of how absolutely terrible the community and playerbase in majority is. Even out of game the community is beyond toxic. Youtube comment, Twitter, Facebook even. Everywhere this game is concerned the horrendous trolls come out.
I don't know HOW the devs would go about fixing the community, but steps need to be taken. Institute some kind of penalties for being a ****, if it's repeated increase them. Do SOMETHING, because as much as the devs say they listen and want to balance the game? They do the exact opposite.
