Now don't get me wrong here, Saying i'm pumped for a new trials game would be an understatement... But with that being said, so far as a hardcore trials fan, the announcement of a new game has done basically nothing for me. Lets be real here, we already knew a new game was coming, and the recent announcements haven't really given us anything new. So before everyone jumps on me and starts telling me to be grateful etc, allow me to explain my reasoning.
First lets start with the elephant in the room; the release date. I cant really complain about the release date (despite being disappointed that it feels so far away) since there isn't really much that can be done about it if that's when the game will be complete, but i do want to point out that that release date will make it almost 5 years since the release of Fusion, and this will become relevant for something i'm going to talk about next.
So, moving on to what we have been given so far... and the answer to that would have to be not very much at all... The trailers have all be very pretty etc., but when the majority of the objects used to build the tracks are made out of objects that have been ripped directly from Fusion and Evo, it really doesn't impress me all that much... There is of coarse absolutely nothing wrong with reusing assets; i'm actually happy it was done. The issue i have with this is that as a core trials player, i have gained absolutely nothing from these trailers other than that there is a tandem couch coop mode than 90% of your persistent players probably wont ever even touch...
So all of this begs the question... With a gap of almost 5 years in your flagship franchise, what EXACTLY have you guys been working on... (it certainly wasn't new assets)? because honestly, the E3 coverage that i have seen so far shows me nothing that couldn't have been simply a small DLC for fusion (aka the tandem mode). Everything else looks like it could have been made in fusion or evo.
I understand that you don't need to sell trials to us core fans, so showing off pretty gameplate etc is probably beneficial for you guys. With that being said however, i have seen VERY little coverage of the possibilities that come from the track editor and track central. These are what you should be focusing on, because the editor and track central is the absolute number 1 thing in your game that has kept it alive for the past half a decade and even longer if you include evo. You guys have seriously missed a trick by underselling your number 1 asset in the game.
Naturally, i'm not saying that you guys have made no advancements in the game, as i imagine there have been many that we haven't seen yet. But that is also the problem.... we haven't seen them yet...
I hope that since the game has now finally been officially announced, you can start sharing some of the actual good improvements made with your core community, because i'm sure that's what most of the people here on the forums etc. want to see i would imagine.
Looking forward to checking out the Beta assuming i get selected. I just hope its not too far away. <3
Oh, one thing that i have seen from the trailers that does look really sick though, is the ability to [seemingly] connect screens in the editor to a camera source and have them play back the capture in real time. That is pretty awesome. I really wish you would showcase more things like this (if you can call someone simply happening to be playing a track that i spotted it in "showcasing").
Good points with some valid points. One thing I do want to add though; yes, it's gonna be 5 years between Fusion and Rising. However, between 2013 and 2015, RedLynx did make 6 DLC packs ánd the Awesome Level Max expansion. Now I have no idea how much time those DLCs take to make, nor do I know exactly how many developers work at RedLynx and how many of those were working on Fusion DLCs or a new Trials game after Fusion's launch. However, I doubt Trials Rising has actually been in development for almost 5 years; I'd would guess it's 3,5 to 4 years maximum.
Now you say the E3 coverage for Trials Rising wasn't that great in your opinion (if I may paraphrase you like this).
I think the majority of details will be revealed during/around Gamescom in August. Because honestly, Trials is not THAT great if you look at what else Ubisoft has in store. It's amazing a franchise like Trials gets a reveal during Ubi's E3 press conference, but compared to their other franchises (The Crew, Assassin's Creed, The Division) Trials is relatively small. Thus, I think that this reveal was the maximum RedLynx was given to show at E3. Sure, they could have chosen to show more details on the game page, or additional trailers they couldn't show during the Ubisoft showcase, but that would mean there's potentially nothing more to show until the game releases in 8 months. Which is quite some time away, so that could've been a long time without any real new info on the new Trials. Which is why I believe this was the max they could show at E3, and have much more info waiting for us in the next couple months.
Another thing that occurred to me literally while writing the above paragraph; Trials is a bit of a niche game within Ubisoft's lineup. We have a close but I think relatively small community, and the millions and millions of gamers who are looking forward to the major franchises I mentioned above, might have zero interest in Trials. Which could be another reason they chose not to show thát much of Trials just yet, because they felt the majority of Ubisoft aren't particularly concerned about Trials, save it's 'hardcore' group of loyal fans who have been playing and following the series for years.
In addition to this, I would not be surprised if additional details were revealed during a Trials Live stream on Twitch. I mean, Trials Live is pretty much THE mejor connection between RedLynx and the community. Considering what I mentioned above about the majority of Ubisoft fans potentially not being interested in Trials, a community livestream would be a much better place to reveal more in-depth details about Trials Rising, which only hardcore fans really want to know about. In fact, seeing how FatShady from the University of Trials was on stage during the E3 reveal, and seeing how RedLynx has apparently involved some key community members to the development, I would not be surprised to see him reveal some additional details.
To end off, I would like to say this: to me personally, Trials is a game in which I honestly don't really care much about new features or anything. Is that a dangerous thing to say in today's game industry, where new ideas are hard to find and triple A titles seen to be the same ting every year? Yes. For me however, Trials is all about the gameplay. About riding that bike along beautiful, amazing tracks. And in regards of visuals and gameplay, there's not much to improve from Trials Fusion, IMO. Thus, I would be perfectly happy spending cash on a new Trials game if it were just 50 new tracks to play with the familiar, and IMO near-perfect gameplay. Being able to play dozens of new, fresh tracks is most important to me, any additional features are a nice bonus.
That being said, I do like the look of the new features they've shown so far. And as I've elaborated above, I think there's plenty more info to come.

With all due respect Cab, I strongly disagree with your post. It seems like you were expecting too much from the trailer.
This trailer is what most people, including me as a core player, wanted. The feedback I've seen is extremely positive. Good ol' rusty bike ? Check. No more boorish futuristic setting, thrown away for a current-day realistic one ? Check. Mud, dirt, wooden planks, rusty steel girders ? Check. And many more things that could be checked and that match 1:1 what the true essence of Trials is in people's minds.
To speak on Redlynx's behalf; during these past 4-5 years, they have been doing more things than you may think. There were Fusion's 6 DLCs followed by ALM, then Trials of the Blood Dragon happened alongside Fusion's maintenance, And then it was time to lay down the groundwork for the next game. With En0's leave, many projects were thrown upside down and things had to be redone, leading to further delay. So clearly they haven't been slacking off on new assets.
The editor and the track central haven't been shown in this trailer because it's not the time yet. While it is the major thing that keeps the game alive, you gotta remember than the majority of people don't even touch functionalities other than single player career. This trailer is aimed to attract as many people as possible without going too much into the specifics of other game modes. Also do remember that this is only the first trailer: It's very likely that there's much more to come.
And yes, maybe 90% of the persistent players will not touch the tandem bike. That's because the persistent players are not the bulk of the playerbase. Just like FMX in Fusion, that feature is aimed at people just seeking to have fun in the game without planning to be long-time grinders.
FInally, I find this statement quite arrogant:
> Everything else looks like it could have been made in fusion or evo.
I don't think you could reproduce the tracks from the trailers in either game, if that's what your point is. The Trials Rising editor combines objects from both previous games (And perhaps from Trials HD as well ?), along with some brand new objects. This multiplies the creativity possibilities by an enormous factor. So you saying that this could just be copy/pasted into Fusion/Evo's editor comes off as if doing so wouldn't be a problem "since it's roughly the same objects".
Again, we haven't seen everything. The main focus of this trailer was introducing the world to a new Trials installment. Specifics can wait later announcements/trailers.
From another Hardcore Trials Fan.
