I managed to plat all the extreme tracks on keyboard, and Blubbi rides ninja level 5's on keyboard (granted, Fusion improved the functionality over Evo's compatibility with keyboard). It's all a matter of what you get used to, but the game is certainly very much playable and enjoyable without analog inputs.
I’m aftaid you are missing the point. Yes, it’s absolutely possible, often superior to play with digital input. The problem is twofold. One, it’ll be a completely different gameplay experience than the PS4/XBONE. Two, 99% of players only know how to play with the analogue triggers, and rely on them. Forcing them to play with digital input will piss a ton of people off.

Wouldn't most of those people already just be playing on a console like PS4/XBONE or on a PC using a controller with analogue triggers?

Most likely. But, “play it on a different console” is not the solution I’m looking for. I played EVO on 360, jumped ship to PS4 for Fusion, and now that I have a Nintendo Switch, I prefer to play as many games on there as I possibly can. The pick up and play handheld experience is just THAT good.

Tens of millions of people will have a Switch when Rising comes out, damn near all of them smitten by its charms. People are going to be let down if they have to “settle” for the PS4/XBOX version. So yeah, how it plays on the Switch is a BIG deal.

Fair enough. I personally don't feel like there's that much of a difference between analogue and digital for most purposes save for Ninja, and this might basically just be a throwback to playing Trials 2 with a controller (which doesn't actually make use of analogue controls). If they do decide to use the analogue sticks instead though it would be interesting to see how it pans out.

Switch is a casual console so it makes sense that Rising will be a casual game on it. Don't expect top players to originate from the Switch.
