    What do you do...

Although it never happened "once" during my previous 4 play-throughs, last night "TWICE" while playing the "Missing In Action" mission at the visitor's center - while releasing a hostage, as happens quite alot in FC5, my AK-MS gets swapped with the crappy AR-C thing, (not an uncommon happening AND YES i HAVE "LOST" MY WEAPON ON MANY OCCASIONS due to the proclivity of developers twisted sense of humor to place alternate weapons so close to hostages, money and take items - which requires the "same" square button use on my PS4 console).

I've lost count of the number of times my SA50 or 249 Militia has gone off a cliff, through the wall, into a tree or simply behind an object and become irretrievable, but that ain't the question here.

What's different last evening was BOTH times, one of the hostages STOLE my weapon, picked it up and as I found no other way to get it from them I had to melee them to get it back.........

They both, woman the first time, guy the second, had an AR "in" their hands, but had my AK-MS "slung" on them.

YMMV, but this "White-tail" Militia prestige weapon is MINE and it's set-up the way I use it (suppressed, red-dot & loaded with AP ammo) and if I have to, I will do whatever I have to to get it back, rather than use that under-powered excuse for an AR.

WHAT DO YOU DO IF IN THE MIDDLE OF A MISSION THIS HAPPENS TO "YOU"?
    .

ps - I had taken a break to play the HoD btw, and when going back, after completion of it, seems my FC5 game thought we were at the starting point of the game, from the beginning all over again - as it began with all the pop-up messages on how to do this and that (very irritating) to the point where I closed the application and came back into the game in order to get rid of them........., seems I'd forgotten I was at the first level up Jason capture point - which lead directly to "Missing in Action".

I haven't had that scenario happen but I do hate when I try to loot but pick up a dropped weapon instead. Seems to me looting should be a button tap and weapon pick up should be press and hold.

Same here!! Especially when it's one of my good weapons. Then when I try and get it back, I'm getting shot.

are you on console , the way you described it should be is how it is for me , 1 quick tap loots them and a hold of the same key , about 3 seconds takes item instead

    im on pc btw

As I noted, I'm on a PS4 console - which requires a "hold" for Take, Loot, Pick Lock, Interact, etc... and a "tap" for Cancel Arrow etc... - same button for many different things - which is why so many complain about losing their weapons. IF you hold the "square" on PS3 or PS4 just a split second "too-long" ya automatically trigger the swap weapon function as it seems the developers ALWAYS place a weapon nearby safes, bodies of course, because they generally have one even if it's just a club, stick, bat etc....

They should have never used the same key for looting and switching weapons. This was a terrible decision by the devs.
