When I am done playing I exit to the game menu and before doing so, the little skull pops up in the bottom right-hand corner indicating that the game is saving. The problem comes in when I exit the game and re-open it. Once into the game and on the main menu my options are to start a new campaign or do some PVP. I click on "Start a new campaign" and the character I have previously created pops up and I click "save character". Once into the game, all of my game is saved but why do I have to always click "start a new campaign" and create my character again.
Side note: When loading into the game it acts all weird. Textures are all meesed up and it takes a while to get everything ready.
More info: I had this game on steam for a freeweekend and everything was normal. It always said "Continue game" when I loaded into the main menu and never had the loading problems. I just bought it on the UPlay store and did a regular install and I am having these issue.

I wonder if your save data is trying to write to the folder for the Steam version of the game. Have you uninstalled your old Free Weekend client?
Do you have cloud saves enabled in Uplay?
Also, I'd definitely recommend getting in touch with https://support.ubi.com if this issue persists.

After I was done playing, I went to the game main menu and clicked continue game and it loaded fine. Then I went back to the main menu and clicked" load a save" and went into the game. Then I exited the whole game and restarted it. Now the main menu shows my saves and says "Continue Campaign" instead of "Start New Campaign".
