    Just bought Far Cry 5 today and it won’t launch

    I just bought the game today. I installed it and installed the update but it won’t launch. It starts showing the far cry background but after about 5 seconds it goes back to the Xbox home screen. I tried shutting down my Xbox and unplugging it for a few minutes but it still won’t launch. Not sure what else to do but try returning the game to the store.

    I'm sorry to hear this is occurring,

    If you haven't already, the first thing we'd advise is running through the troubleshooting in the guide here. This is a guide provided by Xbox and can help with issues such as this.

    I ended up running a factory reset on the Xbox to get far cry to work.

    Same problem here. I've been playing for weeks just fine. Installed the update today, and the game will no longer start.

    I've tried everything - cleared the cache, reset my Xbox One, and uninstalled/re-installed the game.

    Ubisoft, please fix this!!!

    I'd try the power cycle if you haven't already, also try launching the game on another Xbox profile to see if this is account or installation file based. Let me know if it doesn't work with another profile.

    What happens when you try to launch it too?
