    Dissapointed rant

Hi everyone. I am not someone who engages in gaming communities all that much, so other than this message I don’t expect myself to post anymore messages after this one.

That said, I’d like to express my extreme dissapointed in the development of this game. As a solo player who likes the 4v4 modes, I feel that this game isn’t really aimed for me anymore. Let me clarify.

Point 1: the matchmaking. I can’t express how much the matchmaking infuriates me. Either the game puts me in games that are well under way or it puts me in 2/3 vs 4 groups with bots on my side.
Both situations result in one sided games. If I try to leave, the game often puts me in the same game, fueling my frustration and wasting my time.

The skill pairing is also completely out of wack. Rarely do I see balanced teams. Instead, the skill is almost always favored towards one team. Again, resulting in 1 sided games.

I’ll be blunt. This reeks of pure incompetence from the developers side. Which is a shame considering how great this game can be if it just Lets you in a fair game. This just doesn’t happen often. Being completely trashed isn’t fun, and trashing the other team only a tiny bit more. Matchmaking simply sucks.

Point 2: the fact that this game is clearly being balanced for 60fps on PC. Considering that the largest playerbases are on the consoles, this is a truly baffling decision to me. With the amount of light spam added to the game, you need all the frames you can get and 30 simply does not cut it.

It’s frustrating to struggle finding openings and defending against the onslaught of spam on my Nobushi. And then, I pick Orochi or Shaman and everything is easier. Not because of skill, but because my poor victims simply can’t react consistently to my light spam in the stilted, laggy 30fps environment of console land. Sure, there are some parry gods out there but they are very few and far between.

This problem reflects on the playerbase too. In most games I fight against 2 assasins minimum. Why? Because it makes your life easier and it wins you games.

Sp yes, the fact that this game is balanced with 60fps in mind is pure negligence from the developers. Either give console players a high framerate option or start thinking about the majority of your audiance and cut down on the 400ms attacks/assasin spamfest.

Point 3: the community is full of toxic a-holes who like nothing more than spamming emotes and ‘wows’ when they win, and leave games when they don’t. This is not the developers fault, but together with points 1 and 2 it sucks the joy out of this game.

For the first time since release I don’t feel like playing For Honor anymore. This is sad to me. However, despite the obvious care they have for the game I truly do feel that this developer team is not capable enough to turn things around on console. It’s been over a year and the game is getting worse in all the 3 points that I’ve mentioned. They don’t deserve my trust anymore at this point.

That’s it. To everyone who still enjoys the For Honor experience on console: Keep going strong and don’t forget to clear the B point from time to time.

Thanks for posting. I use this forum to vent probably too much. However I am not as negative as I use to be. Props to ubi.

Point 1. I’m sure the developers are having a hard time with MM. they mentioned they are all new to it in the warriors den. I feel your pain.

Point 2 is probably more related to lag and how ubi compensates for it. I think people with PCs tend to have better internet vs Xbox users hence the reason they don’t complain as much. If you can block in training then it’s not the 30fps but instead the lag. On Xbox you can verify the timing of attacks against you using upload studio since it shows frames. On Xbox, 30 frames is 1000ms. So use that ratio to determine the ms. 15frames =500ms. I have a hunch the latency shown on the scoreboard isn’t right for all people bc the two way time minus lag compensation doesn’t equate to frames I see in pvp.

Point 3 drives me up the wall. Why allow players the ability to demean/bully players with “wow” and “thanks” from the other team is beyond me. I bet there is a significant percentage of players that quit bc of this. Just imagine new players seeing this. I’ve seen Numerous people complaining about this in this forum. I can’t believe they still allow it. At least make a setting to disable it.

Thank you for mentioning the B zone. I cant stand it when players run right past it.

@Mirage. It may be a case of lag, although I am personally sitting at a very solid 20-30 ping. I understand that I am very much dependend on other peoples connections as well.

That said, 30 fps always feels sluggish to me compared to 60 or higher fps. Maybe it’s a case of both lag and fps issues? I don’t know. I do feel that the speed of certain attacks/characters do not fit the console situation at all.

To be fair to the third point the game does STRONGLY encourage ******* play and memeing. Hell, Pope just said we are a member loving community in E3 trailer.

Between that kind of talk, the emote and effect spam, and reddit being the primary source of communication, this game was designed to have people ruin each others day.

For Honor had the rockiest start a multiplayer online game could ever because of its ****ty P2P network, and before they could attempt to recover from this massive problem they had to carry on with scheduled season updates, which gave S2 shinobi/centurion cancer.

Shinobi and Centurion is not as problematic in todays meta, but back in day in 4v4s they were absolute hell. Not only they were not nerfed yet (especially Centurion charged heavies could track you the way Shaman jump attack does now) but also OG rooster did not have the tools to compete with them yet. And even in today's meta they are the least fun to vs against, that never changed.

As a result game's population was reduced to either hardcore players who are willing to suck it up regardless, or cancerous players who enjoy ruining others' day with FOTM broken stuff who are also meme culture jerks in general in every game. Pope and Roman's behaviour just reinforced those people, so those who dislike that **** just walked away more and more, so we are left with more of those meme jerks today.

And matchmaking... they absolutely have no excuse of not having fixed it by now. It has been 15 months since release. How hard it is to copy paste what every other online game does?? That reinventing the wheel mentality ruined For Honor both with P2P **** and its horrible matchmaking. Especially since devs seems to be clueless about what a circle is, and keep trying to just improve the corners of that square.
