Thoughts, Bugs, Feedback & Conclussion about the Crew 2 Beta.
Hopefully other players will share their thoughts here, and Devs will read this.
First of all the game is tenfold better than the first one. I've decided to make up a list of things that could be improved / changed.
1. The physics feel good, no one should expect this game to be a sim racer. The cars feel like older arcade games, around the Underground 2 times.
2. The sound design is brilliant. The backfire is great, the engine sounds are great. You've delivered Ivory Towers. There are a few exceptions though.
- The Skyline R34 sounds exactly the same as GTR 35. Not many people are happy with how their iconic car sounds like. R34 is one of the most reputable vehicles in history.
It's for the best if you find another sound engine, and implement it for the car. It's a very distinct one aswell.
- The backfire could be more varied. The first few backfires sound epic. But it gets stale quickly. How to avoid this? Add more variety. Increase or decrease the pitch of the backfire every now and then and you're set.
- As someone already stated in a different post, Turbo, Superchargers and other varieties of forced induction should have a more prominent sound. The touring cars sound wonderful. But mayhaps some cars reaching a specific level could have their sound modified a little? Hearing the turbo flutter is something every petrolhead wants.
3. The graphics are beautiful. Crew 2 has it's own style that isn't ultra realistic, nor cartoonish. It goes for a very vibrant, colorful & smooth look. And it achieved that. The vehicle models are on spot. (With the exception of Regera, you need to change where the flames come from.)
4. The landscape is gorgeous, you've improved from your first game so much. Sadly there's not much you can do with american highways being the way they are, but all the festivals, custom tracks, and minor alterations make the game feel full.
5. The money. Some cars are very highly priced compared to what you earn. But that could be just because we're only on Rookie level and the higher stages of the game pay more. Or perhaps you'll have some sort of moneymaking gimmick hidden for us? Just like faction missions? That would be lovely.
6. The car selection is great. Once again, every car feels unique. New cars you've added were all a great choice. You definitely have a great car park. But there are some icons, especially japanese, that are still missing. Now we all know that car pack DLC's are going to be a thing. But please, do focus on those iconic cars. You will boost your balance, and make the players happy, The Honda S2000, Nissan Silvia S15, Acura NSX 1995-2005, Skyline R33, Mitsubishi Evo 8, Imprezza WRX, Those are jut a few huge icons that should be in a game of this caliber.
Conclussion: Overall the game is solid. It's some of the best we've had in the last 10 years. You've done exceptionaly well Ivory Tower. You've impressed us all. The issues i stated might seem like small things to overlook. But it's exactly those small things that make a deal. You want to have a happy customer who'll buy more and more. It's exactly this attention to detail that impresses. Keep up the great work on your game. Please look into the sound department, as a new car sound shouldn't be too time consuming and good luck on a steady launch.
Please share this thread, comment on it, give in your ideas. Make Ivory notice. Cheers.
