After taking some time away from FC5 I reinstalled the game last week and went onto the arcade, curious as to the fate of my maps. To my utter disbelief, rather than sinking into oblivion as I expected, my map "WW2 Street Fight" was the number one map. Stunned yet happy (never had much success doing anything much really, most I've ever acheived in the past would be described as "devastatingly not too bad").
My joy soon turned to dismay when suddenly there were two street fight maps on page one. Oh ok, I thought, someone has modified my map, fair enough. Let's see what improvements they've made. Played the map couldn't see any difference. Downloaded it to double check, nope, nothing. Not a single modification, loadouts, control zones all the same, the guy literally reupped my map. I immediately submitted a ticket to Ubi, that was three, nearly four days ago.
So far no reply, the stolen map is sitting at number one and has nearly 2000 plays and my map that I spent days carefully balancing is relegated to second place. What's more I think this is extremely unfair to the community of map makers, the thief is occupying a spot on page one that should rightfully belong to someone else. It is personally embarrassing to me to see two copies of my map taking up an unfair amount of space when other people have worked so hard on their maps.
In short, annoying and unfair and I hope Ubi do something about it soon. Or perhaps no one cares and I'm just being silly. Makes it hard to get enthusiastic about my new maps though.
IDF777 there's also the middle pov for new map makers I saved a lot of time figuring out how to make maps better by downloading 4 star maps with themes I'm interested in..I mean without Steves http://list.farcry.info/ and Youtube videos while being to explore downloaded 4 star maps I'd have probably burned out by now trying to remember where the yellow couch is in either Far Cry 4 or the Watch Dog objects list, lol.
How does the editor not have its own Steve's info list in a search browser?.
Exploring downloaded maps can be more entertaining than whatever enemy wave set up the original creator put into the first published map. I have like 8000 head shots in my Far Cry 5 stats, I'm good with killing Peggies, you notice things in explore mode in download editor you may have missed playing assault mode in Arcade.
Also, these spam republished map accounts are getting maps views on Youtube so it's free advertising for Ubisoft, maybe if we could type more words in the map title your next map could be labeled From the maker of that stolen map comes Nuclear Pirates in Towers 6.
Good to know it's not just me that thinks this is unacceptable. This is awful. Ubi needs to either block download or block reupload.
Just checked the arcade and the stolen map is still number one, this guy has got 4,500 plays and nearly five stars without a shred of work whatsoever. Someone isn't getting their map put out through the system because they're below the threshold and this person is still taking up space unfairly.
I submitted a ticket to Ubi on the 27th of May and have heard nothing back from them. Do they read these boards? Some kind of word or assistance from them would be very much appreciated.
If you make a map on pc then it gets featured to PS4 and XBox we can't see your PC profile on console unless we go to Arcade in our web browser, so could some of these spam repub accounts be a base Ubi account to feature maps across platforms?. Like if Tom5 is new stolen map feature originally on PC I don't think I know Tom5 exists while playing on PS4 unless I sign on to a forum like this or youtube new feature map plays.
Do you guys get a bigger budget on PC? lol part of me doesn't care about the spammers because even if you make an insane generic features og map you still have a limited budget like your Brooklyn Zoo Jungle map can't have more than 50 birds if you want some goats.
I personally have never re-uploaded another person's map...because...why do that?
That said, I would hardly call it theft.
Your name is still listed as the "Original Creator" right? ...they have not found a way to scrub your name off and replace it with their name, right?
So...if anyone can say "Cool- I like this map...I wonder who created it", and then look at the info, and see YOUR NAME as the original creator...EVEN IF it shows someone else's name as the most recent to upload it...then how has anyone taken anything from you? If anything, I'd be happy someone promoted my creation and got it into circulation ...especially if the map is as you left it.
I would, however, be mad if someone took my map, and altered it to make it SUCK, and then re-uploaded it, as the players would have no way to know that the original map was better, but in your case, I don't see where the crime is.
