This news was sourced by CNN so I don't think it was a hoax.

WASHINGTON – Robert S. McNamara, the cerebral secretary of defense who was vilified for his role in escalating the Vietnam War, a role he later deeply regretted, died Monday. He was 93.

Walter Cronkite, who pioneered and then mastered the role of television news anchorman with such plain-spoken grace that he was called the most trusted man in America, died Friday at his home in New York. He was 92.

The last and the best of the truly great newsmen.
He reported the news but didn't try to make it. Like so many of the " bubble headed bleach blonds that come on at five" do.

This man "Harry Patch" may not be a celebrity whom we knew in everyday's life but he was known as a last WW1 veteran who died at 111.

This man who went through the 2 world wars was a real great soldier. Rest in peace.

I had read about Mr. Patch elsewhere. To think there are still people alive who went through that hell is very sobering.
On a similar note, I heard on NPR on the 4th of July a replay of an interview with 3 Civil War veterans done back in the 30's, who had fought at Gettysburg...The 4th of July is also the date when that battle took place. I was blown away by the fact that these 3 men had actually shared the same ground, and perhaps listened to Lincoln's address there, and here they were talking to the world 75 years later...
I understand they passed away over the course of the 3 years after the interview was done....
