I am going to try to stay on the topic and not to be too emotional.
My very first recommendation to those of you will read and reply, I, with the highest sense of humility, ask you to be civilized when you will type your comments as I would prefer that every possible replies/comments are constructive and on point.
What I am to share is nothing new and will probably not capture the attention of any mod, senior members or community manager but I felt the need to share my opinion about Ubisoft games in general and The Division particularly.
To give a little background, I am not a day 1 player and until April 2017, I was mainly playing on PS3 and never thought of moving to next gen consoles because I had never ever accepted the idea of paying to play online and meet new friends, I was obviously wrong or right depending on which side of the road someone can put themselves.
My very first Ubisoft game was Splinter Cell blacklist, the game litterally made me love Ubisoft products, I then quickly moved to GRFS and GRAW, I just loved the games. You might ask how I got to play The Division? Well one day, I checking on youtubes the top of Ubisoft games (Back in January 2017), then I saw The Division. I just loved the game mechanics and then was quickly captivated by the playthrough and the trailers from Ubisoft US youtube channel. I loved it so much that my wife surprised me one day and bought both a PS4 and a copy of The Division.
As I started playing the main story missions, my passion for the game kept growing untill I had maxed my character, I have made good friends over the game, my friend list sitting at around 70 is filled with people I have met from story mode matchmaking, the DZ and Last Stand.
One day a friend sent me an invite to play in the Dark Zone, I just loved the place because there were just so many players running around killing NPCs, saluting each other - it was just amazing.
He explained the DZ mechanic that it is a PVP/PVE area where anything was permitted from killing players, to steal their loot and emoting on their dead body while they see.
At first I was shocked but this is how the game is intended to work. Desiring to be good in PVP encounters, improving my skills and support the game, I had decided to buy the season pass, then I was mainly playing Last Stand to improve myself.
When 1.7.1 dropped, LS lobbies started getting empty every possible PVP encounters were made possible only in the DZ - Well this is how the game is designed.
Usually I turn off the in-game VoIP as I am not accustomed to strong language both English and French, I had taken the habit to go in the dark zone to engage PVP encounters with the same people I used to see queuing on LS.
for the past few months, The Dark Zone and LS have significantly improved my PVP skills, from moving to aiming, I got better by dying to the same very good players whom now I can kill with a bit of effort.
Today for the first time in about 6 months, I decided to open my VoIp but mute my microphone and very honestly what people are becoming must a subject of concerns, players language are stronger and bitterer than NPC. I grouped up with 2 random guys in the DZ and we got killed by 4 striker shotgunners with Cronus, all running Super 90 and Tactical SASG, as they were emoting on my toon dead body, the vulgarity and obscenity they were saying amazed me beyond words. I dont mind dying in game but Emoting and being vulgar really is it necessary.
I was shocked and still am. I have been for a year a huge ubisoft fan, from having The Division, R6S, GRW and For Honor but the level of toxicity I have encountered on The Division and R6S is beyond imagination: being killed and tea-bagged because you choose someone favorite operator with all the racial slurs.
I am black and african but very honestly and found on Ubisoft game titles catalysts that can easily bring out the worst out of people.
My hopes for the game are down to 0 as of now and my only hopes for The Division 2 is that Emotes and VoIP are completely removed and should be only available when grouped up.
This is just an opinion I felt I deserve to share, I have been watching Community streams that only devote to the PVE elements of the game. Take a detour in the DZ and listen to what random people are saying through their mics and think for yourself, at the end of the day what is it that this game is promoting.
I don't find emotes to be offensive, but emotes are here to stay. That is how the devs make money.
I wish the devs would spend more time on improving in-game activities and improving the player's experience than adding emotes to the premium vendor. The devs answer to their shareholders. There will be always toxicity in online games. The anonymity of the internet and Trump's rhetoric of "nationalism" has been fueling this toxicity. I do shared your sentiment that the level of toxicty in this game is beyond any other game in this generation. This community is very toxic. From ETF members to content creators. I have seen players attack other players for their opinions and for criticizing the devs. There are some ETF members that harass players for their criticisims. It's a shame. There are some awesome people in this community and they are overshadowed by the toxic players. We shared different opinions, but we all have passion for the game. That being said.
The team behind R6S is taking steps to combat the toxicity. The team behind this game is not taking any steps. They let players have free reign. This is why cheating and exploiting is so rampant in this game. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago where the OP posted about sexual harassment. That thread was closed. I doubt any action was taken. I have to disabled voip because I don't want to hear racial or hateful speech. I wish the devs do something about it. On console, it's pretty bad. Since there is no in-game report system, Sony won't take action unless it occured through PSN. It's the lack of oversight.
The community team has not acknowledged the toxicity as a known issue. This is why the community streams are devoted to PVE and PC/|Xbox. They won't showcased the cronusmax problem on the ps4.
They are quick to enforce the TOS on this forum, but they won't enforce the TOS in-game.
My recommendation is to disable the VOIP and change your privacy settings on your console. Sadly, Ubisoft support won't do a damn thing. You have to reach out to Sony if you want it to be taken care of.
Also, Amper is our current CM, so reach out to him. He might be able to address your concern.

The game is conceived to stimulate the instinctive reflexes.
And many let off steam verbally.
For the cronus: if sags12 shoot has the same bpm as the showstopper yes.
But needs to take into account the lag on the servers.
You imagine in movement and for the others you are stuck. That why you has to believe that the opponents are cronus.
And everybody forget to verify how much stamina when fight shutgunner .
I play with guy who said cronus on the other side yesterday.
Eatch time somebody shoot him 2 v1 and he see just the front player.
50 years.
Pitchman47 on youtube i play on Ps4!
Now you no!
Stop it, pointing out how awesome I am. It's embarrassing being called out like that. heheheheOriginally Posted by Demiz3r Go to original post
Don't give Trump credit for the way people are today. Far too many people are taught what they believe long before they know what they believe in.
The Toxicity comes from this era of the NMF generation. The Not My Fault, I am just playing the game the way it is meant to be played. I generally prefer the co-op games and here in the last 5 years you even see it there. Players don't like how you play because it isn't their style so the intentionally do things that ruin your game. Oops, Not My Fault! For example GoW4, many times in Horde mode I would play as an Engineer start building a base only to have others who didn't want a base to fight from would take it dump it out in the open allowing the Horde to destroy everything.
Now enter TD, the perfect storm. PvEvP, an arena which allowed players to purposely play just to ruin the fun of others and punish those who wasn't into that. Those who preferred that, well they join the NMF. They didn't design the game and their was nothing they could do, but shoot others in the back. It was all in the game design.
Then you add emotes, for those who wished to celebrate just a little for their victory. NMF, it is part of the game.
Followed by verbal insults, which ranged from funny to downright unacceptable in our society. Once again NMF, it is part the game and players are not responsible for what happens in the game.
Then sides was taken in debates. Casual vs Hardcore. PvP vs PvE, DPS vs SB. That was when it started getting really nasty. Some players by then saw things only from their point of view and everyone else could take a long walk off of a short pier. NMF wins again. No one taking responsibility for their actions.
Ubi/Massive endorsed all of this, it was their crowning moment their vision was complete. From the get go they ignored the player base and focused on what the YouTubers wanted, why cause many of them was promoting the DZ and the toxicity which came with it. NMF.
The game is based on being toxic to each other in the DZ, that way they don't have to add new content.
Of course then you see the glitchers, cheaters, and hackers come in. Why cause they want to be the best and they aren't responsible for their actions. It is how the game was meant to be played, otherwise Ubi/Massive would have stopped them. NMF is what those people say, once again they can't control their own actions.
The game is based on you do whatever you want and it is NMF if others don't like it, cause their opinions don't matter if it differs from your opinion.
That is what brings this game down in my opinion
That's no excuse for the venom..Originally Posted by Pitchman49 Go to original post
Emotes will never be removed as they make money. VOIP will not be removed as you can easily turn it off.
Unfortunately, the devs didn't fix problems with the DZ early on. It would have been quite easy to remove some of the toxicity when the game was young, but they didn't step up to the plate quickly enough. Once you allow people to shoot people in the back and take their stuff you've set a precedent. The message is that you can do what you want as long as it gets the job done. This in turn lead to the cheating, glitching and even more toxicity. It's a vicious circle.
Let an area of the game run itself and it will always end up as a cheat zone. When you can't get an advantage fairly, it's easier to get one unfairly.
Many other games have problems with toxicity too, but the devs for those games actually pay attention to reports sent from players. They listen to the player base on all sides and not just the ones on youtube.
The toxicity has taken over because nobody is doing anything about it.
I don't hold out much hope for TD2. If they don't learn the lessons from this game then TD2 will be dead within three months![]()
