I just started a private match and entered 420 and I’m sat in my own lobby. It hasn’t taken me to anybody else lobby. Only works with friends on PS4. People need to be friends to join other wise everyone is creating private lobby with same password, the game doesn’t have the option to join other private lobby so I have no idea how think this works unless you’re on pc and have more options. So when you put the password in if you are not taken to a match this is because there is not one in progress so you will be the actual host and have to sit waiting in hope that others will join.
Once they join you pick the maps.
If you enter the 420 password and there is a room in progress you will be taken to it and whoever the host is they select ALL the maps so you get what you are given, if the maps are good I am sure people will hang around but if the host is a clown and only wants to play their own stuff then I guess the room empties out rather fast.
With communication people can maybe chat even if it means inviting them into chat through the respective platform, there you might be able to talk the host into playing specific maps if they will listen (some hosts are great and very accommodating and some are just out for themselves and play only their own or friends maps)
Back in the good old days where you could look at a lobby and see who was hosting, the mode selected and nap name plus who was in the room you would see specific people and would know that joining their game you always get a good time - hoping one day this returns because without it everything will always be hit and miss.

The passcode selection has been broadened to just add 1 each time. So if 420 is playing maps you're not fond of or is full, just go to 421. 422, 423... Host migration occurs when the host leaves the match so if they don't want to host anymore but still play, they can leave & come back in, passing the torch.
If you are hosting and find that people aren't joining, send out a tweet, FB post or message on the forum and/or in the popular Communities on your platform, letting players know that there's someone looking to play. Without a lobby listing we have to do the advertising ourselves. Some will choose to be negative about the situation, but it's all we have at the moment so let's instead work together to make it the best experience that we can!

I used the 420 password last night. If you sit idle before the lobby gets going the server will kick yeah. Cause I was host sending messages and passwords and what not flipping between dashboards. Then I get back to the game and see the pop up error of error and back at main game menu. Then a buddy had the password then he was host. Still was fun with 4 or 5 people in private.
Then we partied up to public and controlled most of the map picking. Turned out to be a decent night. I did get kicked out of a public lobby being away from controller a bit long though. Game needs a longer away from controller timer. All I did was go to bathroom to break the seal and wash my hands then got another beer. That needs to be increased. But the group left cause a bad map popped up so we piled into another lobby.
