Can't communicate with the team since Windows Spring update

    Hey guys,

first things first I have tried this solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rainbow6/co...aprilmay_2018/
Before trying this solution I could not hear my teammates at all.

Nevertheless I am still not able to communicate with my team as no one can hear me. Whenever I press push to talk the usual notification is displayed in the right corner, but none of my mates can hear me. And the bigger problem about that is, that my microphone is working fine in Fortnite, discord and audacity. I tested it in several R6 matches asking my teammates in the text chat if they could hear me, but they could not. This problem occurred when I updated my win 10 version to the newest update.

Anyone has an idea how to fix the problem?

    Thanks in advance
    Leo

Hi, Rainbow Six should use the default communication device for windows.
Ensure that the microphone you are using is set as the default communication device in the recording section of the Windows sound devices settings.

    Thanks

    Hi!
Thanks for the suggestion. However my microphone is already set as the default communication device. As I said: In other games and applications my microphone works fine

Hmm, you could try the port forwarding in this FAQ.

    Thanks

I am living in a student accommodation where the ethernet cable is plugged directly into an ethernet port. So I do not have access to a router. Furthermore I think that there is no problem with the connection as before the windows update everything worked just fine. Do you think I should open up a ticket for the support?

    Fixed it

Seems like I am an idiot:
I was messing around in the audio tab in Siege trying to fix the problem and set the "recording threshold" to 100. That basically means, that my microphone is never open, no matter what I am doing:

I fixed my problem by setting the "recording threshold" to 0!

However I would like to make a suggestion about the audio threshold: I think whenever the player chooses to use "Push to talk" the "recording threshold" should automatically be disabled or set to 0. I can't think of a good reason for it being activated while using push to talk. This would prevent idiots like me accidentally disabling the microphone
